Is anyone else annoyed the way Ford has setup the way you can build your Bronco?

I have a BD with the Mid package. Yet I wanted the 7speed but I cant get it with the mid package on the BD. I have to get the Badlands. I dont want the badlands as I will never use the disconnect or front locker. I can understand not offering the high and Lux on the lower trim but taking away the 7spd with Mid package I think is stupid. So i decided if I am forced with the auto I added the 2.7 but still would rather have the manual.

Ford marketing selling the up charges...miss the good old days of individual options!

Been this way since the beginning. It’s exactly what they want you to do, force you to a higher trim.

I hate that exact fact as well. And I HATE that you have to get Lux to get the garage door opener. Simply absurd.
Yep. This one was insulting. I don't even care about that particular feature, but I had a shitty 2002 Grand Prix that had the homelink garage door opener. Same with wireless chargers -- I've driven crappy rentals that have them. Just funny that those are "lux" package items and not "mid" or "high."

I went Badlands to get the manual with heated seats, while I was there I went High package for the 360 cameras and 12” screen. The M210 front axle, front locker, 4.70 gears, front sway bar disconnect, Bilstein Hoss shocks, 33” tires, and whatever else I’m forgetting were nice upgrades that I certainly could’ve lived without. Most of those add ons would be impossible or very expensive to add onto a Black Diamond that I originally ordered.

Aftermarket seat heaters are easy and cheap to add, if that is the only option you are really missing just add it. If I were doing it again I’d order a Base with manual and add aftermarket seat heaters and 285/70R17 tires, it would suit my needs just fine while saving me around $15K.

The Homelink visor is a plug and play upgrade for about $330, there is a popular thread about it. I agree it should be standard on all trims, but it’s not.

I don’t get the hate, frankly.

I remember looking at Toyotas back in the 80s, and you could get them in 3 trims pretty much across their line: None, Some, and All. I remember being able to pick and choose with domestically-built vehicles but that was before just-in-time deliveries, tight QA/QC and on pretty unsophisticated automobiles.

If you’re upset, I suggest you research on how modern assembly lines and parts manufacturing works. Look at the different partial assembly lines and how parts are delivered. Look at the market research done before choosing model options. Look at the very expensive testing/approval protocols needed to get certifications.

For the record, I started with a BD Mid 7MT build and moved to the BL High 7MT build to get the luxuries I wanted with the 7MT. I have ordered the Homelink visor and will install that to get the garage door capabilities. I wasn’t happy with the cost jump from my original order to the one I have, but in the end I got what I wanted and I will make use of the lockers and disco bar.

Final thought - check other Ford models and other manufacturer’s offerings and see if there’s much difference in how the options are spec’d. And remember this is MY1 for the Bronco - it will evolve in time. Ford also needs cash flow to fund R&D etc.

My .02

You realize you can add the garage door opener if you have lighted vanities. There is a thread on her about it.

They have to limit what you can get on certain models. If everything was ala carte it would be a manufacturing nightmare, even more than it already is.

^^^^ nailed it ^^^^

I've always felt the Black Diamond should have had the M210 with the base supension.
Mid (heated seats) should not lock out manual ... its why I just went with Base.
In a few years, the competition with Jeep might straighten a lot of this out.
Like Jeeps cold weather pkg, available on every trim .... heated seats, remote start AND .... GET THIS .... HEATED STEERING WHEEL!!!
$995 !!!
