Sooo can you get it today??!

So it is real after all….

Ok guys how are you all doing your down payments? I haven't made a brand new car purchase before (my husband has however).. and on top of my trade in we are probably dropping around 20k for the down payment. Should I bring a bank check in or do it digitally? I know my hubs did it digitally with his Stinger but had to call the bank while there so they would approve the transaction and not decline it as fraud. Is one way better than the other?

I know Im getting close and getting overwhelmed with the little stuff now, LOL.
I'm just bringing my debit card. It's a 2-minute phone call for me to tell USAA to approve the transaction, so I don't mind.

I think it depends on who is doing your financing.
If it is at the dealership, start off with no down payment unless they bring down the APR.
Usually they will lower the APR as you put more down, but you should use that as a way of getting the APR Down. A personal check is all you need to do. Well, you should have funds in the account as well, but that is all nothing special.

If you are doing your own financing through like a Credit Union, they will give you blank check purchase it with and then you can work out the details of your down payment with them.

If you can get a good APR with minimal down, keep your money and use what you would have put down to add to your payment and reduce your overall length of your contract.
Thanks. We are going to finance at the dealer initially. That's a good thing to consider with the APR. Shit I don't even carry checks anymore though. lol.

Ask your dealer.

We had planned to load up a credit card and get a 3500 reward points, which my husband did w/ his new car purchase years ago, but our dealer nixed that, didn't even want a cashier's check. Said to just bring a personal check--they said they take personal checks for $100k or more all the time. Might be a Silicon Valley thing. But anyway, see what your dealer says.

Ya.. my wife has the check book. I cant even use a pen anymore other than to sign shit.
I send out maybe 10 checks a year now, and print them on my computer and sign them.
Everything is wire transfer or credit card now.

My salesperson emailed me today. My Bronco has arrived at the dealership and I will be picking her up tomorrow at high noon. It is getting real. He said I made a good choice in dropping the hardtop. It made all the difference in getting it built and delivered relatively quick. I hope I can get some sleep tonight and work done tomorrow morning.

When I was back in Louisiana this past weekend I picked up some donuts and some older lady was paying with a check. I hadn't seen someone pay for something in person with a check in forever.

My salesman sent me some pictures he took last night, before being cleaned up but after they removed the roof rack for me…..and he confirmed my price protection and credit of $100 for my July 2020 reservation! Nice bright SOLD tag on it. Picking up at 2:00 pm tomorrow! Half day of work and a half day of fun!

Ask the finance ppl. A wire could take 24 hours to post a cashiers check is basically cash. If you do a check, make sure you know the proper name of the dealership. Their business name is usually not “XXXX Ford”
