Disable "Keep Your Hands on the Steering Wheel" warning alert?

Ok, full disclosure I received my Bronco a few weeks ago and have already put 2,000 miles on the truck. I really do feel the truck is great really no short comings other than a few quirks I have found. One of which is the god forsaken "Keep Your Hands on the Steering Wheel" notification I get every 5 seconds. Ford did such a great job with the steering. The truck drives so strait, I have one hand on the steering wheel, and it still alerts me. It sometimes can be "unsafe" because I have to move the wheel left or right on the street or highway to get the alert to come off.

Anyone find a solution for this yet or how to disable this?

I think it only appears with lane keeping on. It goes away when I put 2 hands on my wheel

Turn off Lane Keep Assist via the button on the left of the steering wheel. If you’re not having difficulty maintaining the center of the lane, it’s not going to be a benefit.

In theory it should alert once you’ve been bounced back from the line and the steering input delay has timed out.

Also to clarify, this does not keep you in the center of the lane by any means, just keeps you from crossing lane boundaries

I sort of like the lane keep assist especially on long drives, I just hate the notification where it alerts me to put my hands on the steering wheel when it clearly already is. It not only forces you to move the wheel left or right to remove it but lowers your radio volume too until you complete the task.

I had to turn off the assist as it was assisting me around corners when I wanted to hug the line. Now it just vibrate warns me which is fine with me.

It's not detecting how many of ANY hands you have on the wheel. It's monitoring steering input.

Wanna know what's even better...keep your hands off when the alert comes up and listen for the croaking frog alert thru the speakers!

I've never seen this alert in 4600 miles and often drive with 1 hand on steering wheel. I also have never used LKAS.

I have found it takes next to no input to turn it off. A very slight movement of the wheel is enough. I don’t have to “jerk” it one way or the other.

It’s a small price to pay to have an otherwise incredible experience.

I haven't had that issue come up and I leave lane keeping assist on. When I took both hands off, it does warn it. It just required very little steering input so the computer can sense a user is still there.
You must have some very straight roads. In this part of California, we have to dodge pot holes all day, LKA keeps forcing me back in.

Jerk is a slight over reaction, but it does require me to move the steering wheel one way or the other when there is absolutely no need to.

Isn’t there a sensitivity adjustment in the vehicle settings menu? Maybe I’m thinking of another option...?

My favorite is that if you get it enough times it gives you the get some coffee alert.

I definitely think the sensitivity on that alert needs to be turned down a notch. It’s way more persistent in the Bronco than wife’s F150. Shaking the steering wheel for no reason….

LOL yup! I like to drive down the road and let it bounce between the lines until it loses its mind and gives up LOL!
