I'm curious how many people are interested in taking Ford up on their 'free hardtop prep kit" offer and getting soft tops now. I wonder if enough people will switch that Ford will be producing only customer pre-orders.

It's basically like ordering the dual top and paying for the hard top portion at a later date, isn't it?
I’m not touching my order. With my luck something will go catastrophically wrong.

Most of our customers understand that if they want a shot at MY21 they have to make the change. Personally the idea of not having a hardtop isn’t that big of a deal. Hardly used my hardtop on my keep back in the day.
I made the change to soft top, but I'm really holding out for my squatch and 2.7.... 7/23 res so I'm not feeling too confident...

Base sas w/ 2.7, aux switches.
So close from switching to a Black Diamond over the Badlands because I know I don't need sway bar too much. I just know that it won't help my chances much seeing as I have the squatch and 2.7....Fingers crossed I can still get MY21. I know my dealership can give a strong yes/no if I changed either...

I really don't know the answer to that Mark. My Jeep Wrangler has the rear wiper, and defrost. The only time I use the wiper is to see if it still works, and with the window standing straight it rarely gets any frost on it. But, we wants what we wants. So if that's folks want that's cool beans in my book.
It’s great that Arizona and “down south in Dixie” don’t want a wiper or defrost. however winter is a real thing, believe it or not it happens every year. Crazy I know but it’s true, I saw it on the internet.

I’m switching on Tuesday… had to switch trims as well since I was originally a Wildtrak. I really wanted the painted Mod Top so didn’t feel like waiting to 2022 just get the MIC. Figure I will drive the soft top for a year and then order either a black or color match top when they become available.
I did exactly the same. Wildtrack to badlands with a soft top.

Soft top = theft. Not at all desirable for overloading and staying in any dicey environments. Guns and ammo in the truck, as well as other valuables. YMMV if your Bronco is more of a dune buggy for weekend trips, etc.

Ever owned an SUV with a vertical back glass… if you want to see what is behind you during a storm or snow you will.
What is... Snow?

I actually hardly ever use the rear view mirror anyway. That's what side mirrors are for. My wife's Expy has a rear wiper. I don't actually know where the switch is.

Ninja Edit:
Only for the front row, but the idea is there. I bet there'll be one like you're talking about at some point.
yes, that one is pointless to me. I contacted bestop before and at that time they had no plan to make one for both rows of seats, but I'm sure somebody will. Aftermarket has barely warmed up it's engines.

Ironically, one of the most constrained commodities is the Modular Front Bumper (55G), which is standard on both Badlands and Black Diamond. The Modular Front Bumper is more constrained than the MIC hard top (43L), 2.7L engine (99P), and Sasquatch (765), so downgrading from Badlands to Black Diamond doesn’t avoid that particular constraint. You would need to downgrade one more series to Big Bend.

I went to the dealer about a week ago and changed my dual tops mod top order to soft top only.

Is there anything else like another option available to check right now to signify soft top with hardtop prep kit? Is there a chance my order may get built without it before September? My sheet does still say priority 99. I’m more interested in having the rear wiper being an off-road vehicle.

I’m not completely worried as vertical windows on pickups for me never got too terrible frost and obviously snow buildup wise. If they did remote start in advance will typically do the trick

In fact I have never used the rear defrost on my F150 which was also tied into the heated mirrors. In the last few generations of F150 there is a somewhat common issue with rear defrost overheating and shattering one of the panels. It’s just under $1,000 repair to replace the whole rear window and most of the time no help from Ford or recall.
