I wonder if they will do the tests on each of the configurations? 2.3 man base, man Squatch, auto base, auto Squatch etc, 2.7 auto, 2.7 Squatch etc?

That's like wondering why a petite person's fart smells just as bad as a 400-pounder's... It's not just the displacement.
I'm smellin' what you're stinkin'! :ROFLMAO: :devilish:

If mpg is of any concern to you or has any bearing on your decision to purchase, you are not only looking at the wrong vehicle, you’re shopping in the wrong segment of vehicles. 😁
There's probably a threshold for most people. I want better than 12 mpg. I've seen other people state they'll be disappointed with less than 20 mpg.

They come out with projected mileage well before production. They've manufactured more than a couple hundred Broncos and production goes into full-swing in just several months. They don't know what mileage will be for a vehicle that uses the same engines on a similar platform?
This discussion will have some meaning 6 months from now.

They didn't for the Sport. I would assume they will follow the same path here.
The estimated mpg was released at least back in October, maybe earlier. Production didn't really start until November. Yes, there were some made prior, but production units didn't start until 4th quarter, when estimated mpg came out.

Edited to add: estimated mpg for the BS came out much earlier than I thought, at least back in July 2020 (per C&D)

Wow, that's way lower than what i experienced on my 2.7 f150. I got 20ish mixed driving (sometimes high 19s, sometimes high 20s-depending on how heavy my foot was) and 22-23 highway. I once got 24.7 mpg on a tank- all relatively flat highway miles. The only way i got down around 17 was if i was towing.
I am with you, I had the 3.5 Eco in my F-150 and easily got 17.5 with about 80% around town and 20% highway. My wife's 2019 Expy gets 17 as well. Easily 20-21 on the highway. I expect the 2.7 to get better as they are all boxy toaster shapes going down the road.

I already own several older fun to drive 4x4s that get in the 15 (or lower) mpg range. The new Bronco will need to hit around the 20 mpg range, else a lower mpg would eliminated one of the reasons for me buying it.

I still don’t understand why we get smaller engines if the MPG doesn’t improve.
Because the EPA test cycle can be gamed so Ford uses small displacement engines that never actually need boost to complete the cycle.

That’s mirrored in my experience to reality, the 2.7L work truck I had achieved 21-22 highway and the 5.3L WT of about the same year did 23-25 highway in the same conditions

@ttaylor667 yeah, but you're not the only one buying one, right? The person that posted, literally, immediately before you, cares.

@ttaylor667 your question was "who cares". I think we all got that you don't care. The person that cares is the person that posted directly before you.
