Anyone else wondered why destination charges are so high? $1495... what do they get on a hauler... maybe 10 Broncos... more? Almost 15 grand to deliver a load of Broncos... i ship full trailer loads all over this country for a fraction of that. I live in Ga... I would think a dedicated truck from Michigan to Ga would be no more than $3500. Making good money on hauling these things. My brother used to haul Honda’s from Florida to all points on the east coast... never got that kind of money.

Majority of vehicles are shipped via rail, then truck. At least three middle men. Railroad, yard operator who unloads railcars, and truck driver.

As a truck driver you should understand how middlemen can jack up prices.

It's pretty standard across all manufacturers.

The logistics are a lot more involved than just sticking it on a trailer. They need to be shipped to the rail yard, loaded. Shipped to a nearby destination. Then loaded on trucks and brought to the dealer. Shipping a vehicles a cross a country can take over a week to arrive. It took my currenty vehicles almost 2 weeks to arrive from Dearborn (where the Bronco's are being built) to Phoenix. I don't know how many times it had to switch trails. But I'm sure there is more to it than you think.

ive wondered about the destination charge myself.. The brand i work for usually for most models are from europe and the destination charge is usually only 1k. I figure boating them over from europe would cost more than training them across the us.

I'm so here for skipping the shipping fee if it meant taking factory delivery. Hell, I'd still have some money tacked on for a factory delivery. I've driven from NC to Ohio several times easily. Michigan surely isn't much of a stretch.

I'll even detour through Stephens Auto Center in WV to have them put the accessories on lol

It's basically a shipping & handling fee. I believe it also includes money for the dealer to perform new car prep to get it ready for the customer.

Because they can ... And free money. Euro vehicles have similar charges so it seems mighty inflated.

Ya know, I get that there's a cost to ship/deliver. But you can't really sell the thing WITHOUT delivering it (not on a mass scale anyway). I just despise the fact that its separated out and called by name. Just include it in the price, since everyone is paying the same anyway.

It's just like these companies that started charging a "fuel surcharge" when gas was $4 a gallon. Just raise your prices an appropriate amount, because I know you aren't lowering them now that fuel is cheap again!
