Hello all:

As Joe Strummer said: this indecision is bugging me (yes I'm that old).

I am looking at doing some suspension and wheel/tire upgrades to my '24 2 door Big Bend. I love it but I'm just not happy with the stock stance and wheels. I want to get the front rake out and add some beefier wheels/tires.

I've been looking on the web for take-off SaS wheels and tires and I'm just not sold on the wheel style. I know I'm putting a lot more thought into this than is needed but I don't want to spend a good bit of money and realize I made a mistake due to tunnel vision.

I visited a local shop recently and talked a good bit with the owner. He came up with installing Bilstein shocks to take out the rake and give me a 2" lift. He feels the Bilsteins will give me an improved ride over stock and will definitely be a better ride than a puck style lift/leveling kit.

I looked at wheels and really like the Moto Metal 970's in satin black and a set of Nitto Recon Grapplers.

I will most likely never do any serious offroading with it so he recommended going with 17" wheels and 33" tires.

Will the combination above give me a decent look/stance when finished? Am I making a mistake by not going with larger tires? He (the shop owner) seems to think that 33's will give me the look I'm after and also good performance on the road and be able to handle any off-roading that I may do.

I've looked for pictures of 2 doors with a similar setup and keep coming up empty or with horrible pictures where I can't really see a good side view.

Is anyone is running a similar build please share images and your choices for replacing the standard factory wheels/tire/stance that I am looking for?

Thanks!

Do the Badlands have a factory lift that makes them higher than the stock Big Bends? This is exactly what I was picturing for mine!

Yes, Big Bends have Hitachi shocks and Badlands have Bilsteins. @mpeugeot (Gray Bronco)is running Eibach 2.0 coilovers and 35's.

Badlands sit just shy of 1" higher. SAS is not quite 2" higher.

Here's a couple more pics, with my BB (non-SAS). I'm a bit lifted more than I want to be, but I figure I can always fill the wells with bigger tires

35" tires, hockey puck 2.5" lift on stock Hitachi suspension

The same 35" tires, pucks and hitachi shocks replaced with 4WP coil overs set at minimum height

Badlands is .67" suspension lift and Sas is 1.1" over base. The taller tires make the overall stance higher than that, but this is the suspension difference.
