Has new wheel balanced to today and one of the 4 weights is stacked on top of one of the others...never seen that before.

Thoughts?

Every time I see that, I can’t help but think the person doing the balancing was just lazy and/or incompetent.
It’s not hard to take the time to do it correctly.

But I mean I guess if it zeroed out and they don’t come flying off.. 🤷‍♂️

I would take it back and have them add the proper sized weight (vs two piggy backed). I am pretty sure these are designed to be attached to the wheel, not each other. Maybe take photo so others can comment.

Another question if the original TPMS sensor was moved to the new wheel does it need reprogramming?

I would not trust them to fix this while not causing some other cosmetic damage. Show them your picture and request they give you new weights so you can properly clean the rim and reattach them correctly yourself.

I did this once when I noticed the tech didn't clean the rim and placed the new weights on top of the remaining foam from previous weights. They were starting to come detached before I even mounted the wheel! Since the wheel wasn't driven and no weights fell off I knew exactly how many were needed and where to place them. Plus, I didn't have to worry the shop tech would scratch or scuff my wheels.
