I ordered the Shrockworks they met my strenuous criteria of.

1. frame mounted
2. Step for my kids and wife
3. Stick out enough to make people regret opening their door to quickly . (A-hole insurance)

and as a bonus I know their stuff is solid as I had them on my 4runner.

Just a heads up I ordered on May 12th and the sliders are on their way to me now. So pretty quick turn around from the boys at Shrockworks!

Without a doubt @IAG Performance IAG V2's. Cost effect, made in USA, maintain factory slider, easy to install (and remove if you decide to go rock crawling).

Edit: and look better then all the options listed so far)

I am in the market for a pair of step sliders, not sure I like the angle on the SHrockwork, and I dont know about the bump out on the IAG. But I would like something that can give me a little door ding protection. Any other ideas?

IAG and they are also coming out with a full length step in about 5 weeks for $300 less than all of the competition.

If money is no object then yeah Rock Slide Engineering. I have Shrockworks on mine and it works well as a step and slider. I'm also in CO.
Thanks for the YouTube video, saved me a lot of hard ache with my Shrockworks install.

Glad it helped! My sliders have saved my doors from rocks, other car doors and shopping carts now lol.

Shrockworks finally installed today. Love that fact they are frame mounted and have no badging. My recently spayed dog likes em too.

So far these are my favorites as I have a similar wish list. Just showed my girlfriend and she raised the question "is that enough poke to fit a foot" since she still has to use the side steps to get in. To be honest, I use them for roof cleaning too... What are your thoughts on the "step" function beyond the tough and durable slider function? She worries she'd end up kicking the door.

They work great as a step getting in. They are not quite large enough to comfortably stand on them to reach the roof without really leaning on the paint, mirror or opening the door. I also want to add some paint protection below the door right above the rock rails because its really easy for my foot to kick the paint there when I step on the rock rail. That full height rocker panel cover that goes into the door as a sill protector is probably the best accessory to pair with these rock sliders.

Yeah I had similar concerns about its length but what’s hard to see is there is a small gap between the sliders and the body, I used JCR pinch weld covers to make it look cleaner but makes it hard to see. I still have more then enough room to stand and clean/access the roof. To put it in perspective I’m 6 foot 2 inches tall size 13-14 shoe, fatter than I should be and have no issues. Honestly it’s the perfect size for preventing door dings while giving you a legitimate step which my kids and wife wanted with out looking huge like the OEM steps. I will attach a picture but it’s dark, if you want I’ll take one for you tomorrow.

Do you have a hard or soft top? I just grab my roof and can stand easily but it’s a hard top, if you have soft it may be more of an issue.

I have a Bestop soft top, not much to grab at all to hold yourself steady.

There are a lot of votes for the RSE sliders, which are functional and come with good customer service (from what I hear), but you might want to read the group buy thread, there are some complaints.

The biggest complaint is that the 4dr version doesn't look like it fits correctly.. being about 4" short of covering the pinch weld in front, and 2" shy of meeting the fender flare. I'm in the process of making a cover/mudflap to close that annoying gap because I can't stand it.

As far as my opinion, they are HEAVY, and Installation is a bear. Also, the fit/finish left a lot to be desired. For example, the supplied pinch weld covers (for the mentioned 4“ gap) need to be installed first because their hardware will be covered by the steps. Unfortunately, the steps couldn't be installed completely due to interference with those same covers, and were bending my pinch seam as I tightened the steps to the body. Had to get a flexible socket to remove the cover's hardware through a hole the steps, loosely install the step, then reattach the cover. And I still haven't got the steps completely tight against the body. Going to loosen all (of the dozens) of bolts holding the steps on, and try again.

All in all, I'm torn. After the brutal install (done alone btw) they work great. But, they do look a little more industrial (and stand out IMO) against the clean lines of the Bronco. When I was done I honestly had some buyers remorse. But, they are also the only rugged (true) step option out there right now, so I learned to love them.
