But, it's disingenuous to compare delivery times of a legacy product, to a new in-demand product with a 1 year waiting list before production even started.

Yeah, maybe. But it does seem that if anyone should be ready for the curveballs that come with product launches, it's the company that invented the production line.

Although to be fair, I was going to mention the C8 Corvette, which I'd heard is a *reasonable* 12 month wait, but some cursory research to back that up reveals the wait is actually anywhere from 12-48 months, depending on trim level order. Now THAT sounds downright Bronco-esque!

In any case, it's clear OP "did nothing wrong," to answer the initial question.

IMHO, it's an example of how poorly Ford planned this roll-out and how poorly the executed capital expenditures to make sure their subs were ready.

My "mid size" dealer is one of the 100 largest dealerships in the country. (mid size in Phoenix = about 600 cars on the lot in a normal economy)

If Ford was actually building to plan (80/20 Bronco/Ranger + 3rd shift) , then ALL dealerships would have 50-100% more allocations, and all reservation holders would have their vehicle by now.
That's so true. Everyone is focused on allocations now, but if production was on target, dealers would get more stock/allocations.

Remember, Ford celebrated the two year anniversary of the Bronco reservation list by firing the exec in charge of the Bronco plant.

You didn’t learn or play Ford’s game. I have a similar reservation at Granger from October 21, got tired and read up on allocations, found a small local dealer who didn’t really have any waiting orders, ordered a 2 door Big Bend with mid package in early December, been driving it for 6 weeks now and am loving it.

Look back in history and Ford pushed out
If Ford was building to plan then there would have been 3 times as many '21 Broncos built 50,000 is a pisspoor number compared to over twice as many 64.5 Mustangs and over a half million 65s.
11 years of first generation Bronco and they barely topped 200,000.

Small dealers are the best. That's why I went with one on Day 1 of reservations.

And the first year Mustang they pushed out over half a million, another 600,000 in 66.

We may look back fondly on the 1st gen Bronco, but it was by no means a "popular" product.

Well I tried coming back to the brand. Was super excited about the new Bronco. Ford can't be this incompetent as a company, so I can only assume that it's my fault....It's not you Ford, It's me...

So fellow users, I want your feedback - What did I do wrong?

I placed my reservation on Oct 30, 2020. Yup, I got into what was already a long line (after some hesitation and internal debate about an f150 king ranch) at a medium-large dealer in the greater Houston area. A LOT of folks ahead of me in that line, both nationally and at the dealer (I was number 189 out of what they stated at the time was ~200 allocated vehicle slots ). I procrastinated - I had a 105 reservation number so I expected I'd be waiting...and I still am waiting...and waiting. Then, on 3/16/21 I ordered a Lux Badlands sasquatch hard top with mod steel bumper (several sins). Then I ordered the same vehicle again in October of 21. Now I'm fixing to likely have to re-order for the third time if I can stomach it.

All my family cars were aging when I started this process so I've actually had to purchase 2 new cars in the meantime. One of those vehicles, a plug-in XC90 was custom ordered, built, transported across the Atlantic, and delivered to my dealer - all in under 3 months! This was my understanding of how buying a car was supposed to go. Volvo and Audi have benefitted from Ford's Bronco timeline.
What is the point of this thread?

Jeep sells more Wranglers alone than the whole brand of Audi sells in the USA. There's a huge market for off road vehicles, and I wouldn't be surprised if the real demand is somewhere in the 150k-200k range per year for a Bronco once they get production going.

I do agree Ford should of prioritized reservation holders from the beginning. But really, a negligible amount of Broncos were produced in 2020 and first half of 2021. The pandemic affected everything across the world. Supply chains were broken and many companies just as big as Ford are reporting problems.

A jeep is a good alternative but as studies have shown, the Bronco created a new market and only pulls about 20% of buyers from Jeep. There's nothing quite like it. I say wait for what you want.

So you have 3 on order?
How bad do you really want one? There are dealerships with stock, are sponsors of the forum and will sell them to 6G members for MSRP. So if you want one, go get one. My dealership in Texas would but they don’t have any. Here is a sponsor who has 10, y’all quit crying, support a sponsor and go get a Bronco 🤷‍♂️

To clarify, I haven't ordered 3 broncos. We reservation holders have had to re-order the same vehicle after every production year where that order was not fulfilled.

I would never have bought a Jeep but ordered a Bronco. The other considerations were Toyota Tacoma/4 runner and Ford pickups. Honestly ordered the Bronco because it checks the boxes I need for towing and property work at a very reasonable price and I could order from ford exactly the configuration I wanted, though I did forgo the tow package to increase likelihood of getting one in a reasonable amount of time. Will add a hitch myself. The fact that it’s a “Fun” vehicle is just a bonus. They told me to expect 6-12 months wait.

Ordered end of Feb. ‘22 and got my email a couple weeks back that it’s scheduled for 8/29 build week. Two door base with MIC top. Had no clue about the waits and allocation situation but skipped the big dealer in town because their Toyota dealership sucked so badly after I purchased a Corolla from them a few years back. Went to the small dealer one town over. Seems I lucked out by doing that… Assuming it actually gets built and the dealer doesn’t try to screw me.
