According to the video it states to mark the OEM neddle location on the oem faceplate, pull up on the neddle and after the faceplate is installed you push the neddle back down in its oem location. Would that be the correct procedure?

Yes that will work, you send a pic and i will confirm . Basically the pointer is on the very bottom of the 0 tic. You can actually remove and replace face without lifting pointer and just confirm placement
