Use keypad to lock keys in Bronco.

I stumbled across this today and didn't know this was an option (w/ keypad). I tried to lock my keys in my Bronco so I didn't have to take them into the gym but couldn't figure out how to do it. Now I know.

Just a heads up ... I know someone who had an Escape broken into, and an F-150 stolen. The police said that the keypad is (apparently) easily defeated. Had it not been for a coffee cup the perpetrator left on the floor, they would have not noticed it was broken into, and that they had taken the extra set of keys he left in the console. The police said whoever did it, was most likely coming back for the Escape later.

If someone has the balls to break into the vehicle is a set of keys going to stop them from taking it? I have heard of f150 and f250s being stolen from nice neighborhoods and disabling the gps tracker within 90 seconds without a key... I just think a keypad is a nice feature while out of trail runs or swims where its not as easy to have a key with you. I still plan to use it.

Unfortunately I’ve tried and you can still start the bronco after being locked with the keypad. Since it’s not wired in. I’ll have to get one of those bags to block the signal. At least make them work at it. I’ve got the console safe so my plan is to lock the keys in there in a signal blocking bag. I love the keypad feature on all my fords. Beach bike rides anywhere I don’t want to worry about dropping my keys.

I used to do this with my previous F-150, but that didn’t have push button ignition and I hid the key really well inside. I wouldn’t trust leaving the key in any vehicle with push button ignition

If you keep your keys in your Bronco, hide them in a faraday bag. The truck won't start. Perfect for camping or surfing, scuba, etc. I hid a wireless keypad in my gas door area just in case I need to do this. I keep a faraday bag in my center console for this. Then hide it when I use it.

Here is how to hack the system. I'm assuming ford put some required random pauses into the entry sequence to mess this up. If you have 20 minutes and the keyless entry keypad, you can give it a try.

My locksmith near me sw15 advised me several places where to hide my keys:

1. The most trivial place would be tire well. I recall, that my grandparents used to hide there the keys all the time.
2. Behind the bumper or the front license plate.
3. Inside the gas tank flap, but I don't recommend this place. Too many people know about this place.

Always be precautious when you hide the keys in your secret place. Otherwise, you'll remain without the car.

I have one of those bags and it works great. 2 questions, why put the key pad in gas cap? Why isn't yours body color? Mine was painted EG to match the body.

Body color keypads are MY'22 and later. MY'21 received the sticky Tootsie-Roll keypad.
