I installed a Turbosmart bov yesterday and I don't know how pronounced the sound is supposed to be from the inside, but I hear absolutely nothing. Even driving with the top off, windows down, still nothing. I'm flooring it in sport mode then coming off the throttle to test. Double checked the install which was simple enough. Seal looks good, screws are tight and connection looks fine (noticed that connection can go either way, but only one way will engage that white clip). The port itself is pointing straight down, not sure if that should be adjusted.

Any suggestions?

I had this issue when I first installed mine. If you have another person to help you, pop the hood and have them rev the motor while you watch to see if the valve is opening. You may need to rotate it so you can see it. If you don’t have someone to help you, you could do what I did. I popped the hood, pointed my iPhone at the BOV and video recorded it so I could watch to see if the valve was opening. It was not. I called them and they told me to put a little oil in there, something that is rated for high temps. He said I could use sewing machine oil which my wife actually had in the house. I put a couple of drops in there and it worked like a charm. Been running it for a couple months now with no issues. Just sitting and revving the motor is sometimes hard to hear. Under load when driving, it is very loud.

Possible you have a defective one but they aren’t overly complex with a bunch of moving parts. Hope that helps!

Thank you for this. So I popped the hood, rotated the bov so I could see the valve, setup my phone so I could record, revved the engine a few times and sure enough that valve wasnt moving. So I rotated to the top, added a few drops of motor oil, and did this same thing. This time I could see the bov through the windshield and I saw some oil spraying out, but still couldnt hear much. Rotated the valve to the front and drove around and I'm still not really hearing anything. So maybe this thing is defective, will have to give Turbosmart a call.

Was this in response to your normal BOV not working properly? Mine’s making a loud sound every time it opens and will have to get the dealer to replace (hopefully). Hope I can show them, “look it’s coming from right here, if you unplug the electrical connection it stops”

Not sure what you mean by "Normal BOV", the point of this install is to replace what is there with a BOV. Pretty sure the stock part isnt.

Apologies if I’m off, but thought there is a normal pressure BPV for the turbo.

Their might be, maybe just more subtle than this one? Still new to the Bronco.

It sounds like your recirculation hose may have come loose, or something may be cracked.

Never really understood why anyone would pay more than the $5 Panda charges for the recirc cap and zip tie (which admittedly you could make yourself anyway).. Just remove the recirculation hose and cap the end that connects back into the intake and call it an afternoon. Does the same thing

Like I mentioned, new to the Bronco, so didn't know about this as I came across the BOV first.

Gotcha.. yeah there are a few options for aftermarket blowoff valves (and all have their marketing about what makes them “better” lol) but the same thing can be accomplished by just disconnecting your factory one’s recirculation hose and securely capping the hole on the intake side! Food for thought.. I’m sure someone else will passionately chime in describing why their $$$$ option is “better” though.. just victims of good marketing

I mean ultimately that's what I'm looking for. Maybe I'll just return it then.
