hello all, I recently bought a 2025 Bronco Big Bend, it did not come with a tow package, however when I installed a tow hitch I found a pig tail hidden in the bracket under the bumper. My question is, does anyone know exactly what I need to make that pig tail work? I’ve read there is some sort of module package I need to make it all work and want to know what exactly that is.
Thanks in advance, amd I love this forum!

Return what you bought if you can and purchase the Ford kit referenced by Ducati 1098. You will need this if you want all seven pin functions to work.

Do all Bronco's without tow package come with this pigtail? I have a 25 Base and was wanting to add a hitch. If there is already an existing pigtail I will go with the Ford kit above.

I would think so, if it does you’ll find it tucked away behind the bumper around where the hitch would be installed. I installed the tow kit myself, comes with everything you need including the module that installs behind the plastic side panel on the drivers side cargo area, the instructions that come with it step you through all of it, takes about an hour roughly to do.

Yes. All broncos are mostly wired from the factory now. They just don’t have the hitch or module installed.

So even having the hitch alone already, you will still need the module.

There is also a firmware update required if you want full functionality so that the computers know when a trailer is connected. Features include:

- Automatically disabling the parking sensors and cross traffic alerts when you plug in the trailer lights so that you aren't getting all the beeps and warnings when backing up with a trailer.
- Sway control
- Trailer light check through the Ford Pass app so the system cycles through all the lights, turn signals, brakes, etc. That way you don't have to keep running back and forth, or have someone in the vehicle to step on the brakes and putting it in reverse.

Roughly an hour... if the welded nuts on the hitch blank off dont spin. Found out after having to use the cut off wheel to remove the existing hitch bolts. Use a torch on the weld nuts to melt the lock tite then you should be good.

Well, an impact wrench popped mine off no problem, my Bronco was only a couple months old, and yeah, took roughly an hour to…

What year is your Bronco? I have a '24 Black Diamond and had the factory hitch installed by the dealer before I took possession of it last fall. I never got the trailer light check after the install and the technician went through what he could do and still don't have it. Also, it doesn't show in my Ford Pass app even though I have the latest version. My brother has a '22 Outer Banks and the light check option shows up on his infotainment screen. I'm just wondering if it's something Ford disabled after a certain year. The reason I went with the more expensive OEM hitch in the first place was for this option specifically, so it's more than a little frustrating that I never got the option. I know I can enable it in Forscan but I shouldn't have to go that route.

I have a ‘24 WildTrak.

Did the dealership update the firmware in order to have the vehicle know that the Tow hitch was installed?

In addition to seeing the Trailer Light test in the app, you should also see a Trailer Options feature on the infotainment screen.

I have a '25 and after I installed the new hitch and the new module, I had to take it to Ford to get the computer reprogrammed.

I had my hitch installed at the dealer as well and I have all the trailer options except the light check. I thought I was supposed to get the light option and noticed when I picked up the truck that it wasn't there. The technician came out and reinstalled the software again, showing me while he did it and the light check still didn't come back. I guess I'm going to have to wait until I can use Forscan to get it. Oh well!
