If possible keep it in a garage. If not pop the hood weekly. Regardless you should pop the hood at least every week no matter what. Even mice like to make home in the engine bay as well. You'd be surprised how fast they can build a nest.
Checked mine about 2 days ago... I keep a close eye because I know how they can be! The last issue was my MIL who was staying with us for a bit... they loved her old minivan for some reason.

I have been putting off buying a small fire extinguisher for the car, will buy one now. (I have two small ones for the house, 1 garage and 1 kitchen)

I wonder how hard it would be to install a fire suppression system.

Was tempted to make some jokes, but I just can't. Glad nobody was hurt but holy crap - haven't seen something like this since my friend's Suzuki Vitara burned up 20 years ago.

Any lighting mods, I see the Modular fog light kit, wonder if something caused a short and started the fire.

I have the Red version of this one. It is basically a Flame activated fire extinguisher (bomb). Just thought I'd throw this out there.
Sorry for you loss but thank God no one was injured.

Yeah, crazy, who stole the fenders. They were downright incinerated.

Luckily he was stopped and not doing 70 when things went wrong.

Glad you’re ok! Was it stock? No catch can nonsense or 100 lights wired to the same source or anything like that?

Wow, that sucks, glad you're ok. It looks like that fire had some fuel to feed it. I wonder if it was fuel line related and the high pressure sprayed it all around. Even with a fire extinguisher you wouldn't have wanted to get near it at that point.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but thank God you hadn't parked in your garage! You could have lost a house along with the car!

Someone's been watching too much Breaking Bad...

In all seriousness, so sorry for your loss. I hope the root cause is determined and it all works
