If one of the major problems in my life is that my $50,000 off road fun vehicle has been delayed a few months I’m counting my lucky stars. Talk about being blessed.

Think about the nature of the product- a hard top that is removable. Exactly 2 vehicles in the US use this. If this were a problem with the modular bumper, Ford could go to a crazy number of different suppliers to get it made. There just are no good options for this part. Here is my question,..Why would Ford put all of their eggs in one basket? I would think that in any major manufacturing operation there would be more than one supplier for raw materials, supplies, etc???
This clearly falls in the "rumor" column. There was a contract worker who is a member here. He has alluded to recently that they are unable to produce the MIC in sufficient quantity. He has said when his contract is over in a few weeks that he will disclose more information, but he will not divulge details now. Their posts were part of a private conversation that has been mentioned by others.
But even if you disregard the production/supply of the MIC. The Mod Top was supposed to be available at launch. We know that Webasto has been unable to produce it in sufficient quantity. You can count single digits of how many mod tops have been seen in the wild in over a year. I would think that is sufficient proof that Webasto can't produce a top that was to be an option.
This is my attitude as well.If one of the major problems in my life is that my $50,000 off road fun vehicle has been delayed a few months I’m counting my lucky stars. Talk about being blessed.
WTH those are pricey soft tops from Besttop. I don't need some Cadillac soft top. (The top doesn't even include doors for those prices.) Hopefully some other maker releases a soft top under a grand.Ford doesn't even need to offer a lesser cost equivalent to the MIC. Bestop soft top for the 2-dr is $1600 for the vinyl and $2300 for the twill (rounded up). If Ford offered the difference in cost to option one of the two, there would likely be some takers. If Ford needs to recoup the plumbing/electrical hookup cost for future MIC delivery, then tack on $100. There are some buyers that don't care for the hookups and would rather just not have their 2-dr delivery held up because Webasto can't make the MIC in sufficient quantities.
Agreed. You could be right! I still find it hard to believe that Ford wouldn't/didn't have a backup plan for something like this!Think about the nature of the product- a hard top that is removable. That makes sense but if there is a soft top alternative for the two door why won't Ford make it available? There is availability of 2 door tops, just not enough to cover demand. The last real numbers we got out of MAP showed about thirty percent of the Broncos built each day have been 2door. For the 4 doors- out of roughly 70 built each day, 40 are hard top and 30 are soft. According to demand, it should be more like 65 and 5, so that is why so many later 4door soft top reservations are moving up the line.
Thats like having a “backup plan” for when your engine throws a rod in the middle of the outback. What are you gonna do, have a spare short block in your trunk?Agreed. You could be right! I still find it hard to believe that Ford wouldn't/didn't have a backup plan for something like this!
I think that would be a good option for sure. Many people would take them up on it if offered. Not sure if I would. That makes sense but if there is a soft top alternative for the two door why won't Ford make it available?
There was a memo posted on this forum from Ford suggesting order holders switch to a soft top to get their build sooner possibly. You must’ve missed it.This clearly falls in the "rumor" column.
Again, I don't know if there are or are not issues with the MIC top. How about we let Ford work the timeline they have very clearly communicated to people?
Folks are beating Ford up for delays that haven't even occured. Multi million dollar projects are messy and can have issues. Some issues get resolved and the client never knows. Some need to be addressed with pivots and tweaks. Such is life.
This is my attitude as well.
Let's stop making shit up to be mad about. When you are an early adopter of a product, this is what happens. Accept it or move on. Don't let it impact you though. It. Is. Just. A. Car.
Good morning fellow B6G members...I have a business opportunity for you today. I am going to start a manufacturing company that makes hard tops for Broncos and Wranglers! I am looking for hard working people with injection molding experience, 3D printing, CAD experience, structural engineers......Thats like having a “backup plan” for when your engine throws a rod in the middle of the outback. What are you gonna do have a spare short block in your truck?
Sometimes you gotta wait for a tow truck.
The option to switch to a soft top isn't available to 2 door orders. Nowhere to move except unless you change to four door which I am considering. Waiting to see if Ford comes thru on giving everyone build estimates by the EOM.There was a memo posted on this forum from Ford suggesting order holders switch to a soft top to get their build sooner possibly. I appreciate your glass half full attitude. I really do. But this is a top issue. Accept it or move on. It’s just a top.
Knock yourself out. By the time you get all of that up and running it’ll be 2 years from now and Webasto will have figured out whatever problems they have.Good morning fellow B6G members...I have a business opportunity for you today.
