Is the lack of a floor mounted high beam switch.

Cruising down the road at night, you see a car coming, with a little flick of the foot “klu-chinnnnng” low beams. A few seconds later, without changing your grip on the wheel “Lou-chinnnng” high beams again.

Anybody else with me on this?

Nope.

The biggest design oversight was putting electric windshield wipers on the Bronco, instead of the classic 1940's manually operated wipers.

Why let your front seat passenger sit there idly texting, instead of putting them to work keeping the windshield clean?

Regarding high beam dimmer switch on the floor: I remember it on my cars back in the 70's, sometimes would stick because of rust or snow or something. So I'm good with the new way.

How old are you????

I remember them too but my first car was given to me by my grandma when I turned 16 in 1985.

1959 DeSoto Firesweep Sportsman.

The floor switch for high beam is possibly my favorite old gadget on my ‘74. That and the windshield wipers.

Not as old as my post would make you think!

I’m 34, but my first car was a 68 Mercury Cougar. It had the foot operated high beam switch, and just above that was a foot operated windshield washer pedal.

My second vehicle was a 1991 F-150 Lariat. One of the best vehicles I have ever had. I still miss that thing.

My dad’s 85 f250 4.9 4spd had the dimmer switch AND a double gun rack in the back window.

I was sad to see the floor switch go in American cars. Much easier than a mulifunction stalk. IMO.

You got me beat.:) I was 9 then, how the hell did a DeSoto last that long.
My grandma got it in an inheritance from a neighbor she took care of. It then sat in a carport for about 15 years. It was started and ran several time a year. When she gave it to me it had 36,000 miles on it and original wide whitewall spare in the trunk. My brothers (twins) drove it when I went to college. Unfortunately a drunk went left of center and totaled the car. Damn near killed my brother. He still has issues but you won't hear him complain.

Supposedly Chrysler used the DeSoto as a testing car. Had an over built rear end in it with push button gears. It didn't have much by way of engine but you could rev it up and push D and light up the back end.

I always wanted a 60's Cougar. Love the looks of those cars. The DeSoto went to my brothers when I went to college. A year later I half assed fixed up a 66 T Bird and used that for two years while at Ohio State. Got rid of it for a 1987 Ranger. I would have kept them all if I wasn't trying to just get by.

I still have that on my current DD.
