Tailgate Hinge Over-Extension

I noticed the paint on my tailgate hinge stop was chipped off the other day. When the tailgate opens if you don't do it carefully the piston doesn't prevent it from hitting the painted cast aluminum stop. Where I park is a bit of a side hill so with the weight of the tire it can easily open too far. I got some touch up on it but wanted to know if anyone else has had this same issue. Hss anyone installed the RTR tailgate limiter? Any Pictures?

What happened to the Torx (+?) mounting bolt. It appears to be stripped….

Mine has a “rubber pad” to prevent paint to paint (metal to metal) contact. It appears from the photos you posted that you are missing these.

Maybe damaged prior to delivery?!? I have only had it 6 weeks. I thought I t was odd that I hadn't seen anyone else post about this if it was a consistent problem.

At first glance I thought this was welding spatter, but combined with the stripped fastener I'd bet this is paint spatter after a repair. That seems like too many imperfections to get past quality control if factory paint.

Looks like a spray can paint job take it back and have it repaired

Someone took these off to do an absolutely horrible spot repair. These come in a pack of 4, you'll only need two for after someone fixes the horrible paint issue.

Thanks for the responses. I took it to my dealership yesterday and they are covering the repainting the hinges and pads.
