Poor man’s solution:

I drive into the sun both ways on my commute. It amazes me how much the traffic slows down because so many people don't have sunglasses AND don't know how to properly adjust a sun visor.

LoL. The manual console has room for one pair. The auto console has room for four.
Fortunately, I only need one pair handy! No need for four pairs for me. But the area in front of the shifter can hold four as well. Just not as perfect as the spot behind the shifter I assume was meant for a phone.

Apparently your spouse doesn't ride with you!
She does all the time. She keeps her’s in her purse. Since I don’t carry a purse, it’s easier for me to keep a pair permanently in the vehicle. The spot behind the shifter meant for a phone fits mine perfectly. I should mention for those that don’t know, the space in front of the shifter is available as noted above just not as easy. The space in the armrest is also available but also not as convenient when driving.
