I was looking at a stock WT today and liked it on the test drive.

my wife drove it back to the dealer and while getting ready to back into the space we felt tire rub. I got out to look at the clearance. Left side is rubbing on the rear crash bar.

The truck has GY Territory 315/70R17 tires on stock rims.

Why would stock tire size on stock rims be rubbing?

That WT isn't stock. Any Sasquatch Bronco doesn't come with crash bars.

Question is was the WT "new" leftover dealer stock? And if so, why did the dealer put crash bars on it?

If it was a used WT, then the previous owner put them on.

Then there is the possibility that it wasn't even a WT. Just a HOSS 1.0 Bronco with WT wheels/tires.

Nothing like that on a stock WT. Here's my pics front/back before mudflaps installed.

Y'all forgetting this is the same Ford that has sent out Broncos with mismatched seats:crazy:. I wouldn't be surprised if a Squatch or 2 came off the line with crash bars lol. Were they on the other side as well?

I doubt the dealer added them, so either factory fudged it or it's not actually a WT are my guesses. Any pics of the whole Bronco?

It could very well be a factory fudge, too.

Ok so the bars are on both sides. Look considerably newer than everything else underneath - cleaner. Maybe mounting brackets for rock slider or a step. It has RC steps now but maybe something else before. Also it has WT hood decals and evidence of the rocker panel WT decals being removed. Likely ill visit a Ford dealer tomorrow (closed on Sunday) and look under some Broncos.

Last 2 are right side.

Thanks again

If it has RC steps and the rocker panel decal removed, then it is apparent it is used. So it ins't a factory mistake. That leaves either the previous owner put them on or the dealer did. In either case, they are safe to remove.

I would have the dealer remove them. They aren't a big deal to remove, but they don't belong. If they won't, then you know what your first "mod" will be.

Since it is used, are you even sure it is a Wildtrac? Very easy to turn a Base into a Wildtrack clone, couple stickers and wheels/tires, $2K investment turns a $26K vehicle into a $60K vehicle. I would check the VIN for sure.

Definitely prudent to do the due diligence. I presume the dealer would verify the VIN. It does have the Bilstein shocks, but that doesn't prove anything as they are readily available as takeoffs.

To the OP, definitely scrutinize the vehicle and ensure everything checks out. Make sure the recalls have been addressed.

It could be shady car dealer adding sticks like used dealers used to do with tahoes…add z71 decal and charge more. It could’ve been in an accident and was repaired with bars as well.

Thank you, all, for the responses.

I went ahead and bought the carfax on the Bronco - it is a WT from the factory.

I still don't know what those bars are but I'm passing on the truck. My son, who was also car shopping yesterday, road with the salesman in it after I left. He said when the guy was backing it into the parking place it was rubbing so bad the truck was lurching.

I'm in no hurry to buy so I can wait for another/better one to come along.

If everything else checks out, I wouldn't let the crash bars stop the sale. They just don't belong on Sasquatch Broncos. If you have a socket set, it's 2 bolts per bar.

I don’t think that’s a Wildtrack. Check the Vin. Looks like it has wrong suspension all around.
