I went off-roading on Sunday and got stuck in a mud hole. Got winched out by some really nice people but the car tire rack looks disconnected. Any idea what is broken here and how fixable it is? I ordered a hoss 3.0 steering rack upgrade on ford performance but no idea how long that’ll take to get here.

Your new rack is not going to come with a CV axle.
Looks like the axle sustained some damage (snapped the splined portion off), strictly looking at the grease leakage from the boot and the fact it isn't seated in the hub like it should be.

There are the remains of a retaining clip/wire it looks like also laying in your lower ball joint.
What did they tie to to snatch you out, the axle?
You aren't trying to drive it like that?

I drove it 2 hours like that since by Time I got out and changed my rear passenger tire, it was too dark to see what I did there. We used the front bumper area that isn’t the bumper with a d ring to get it out of the heavy water and mud.

What would be a stronger cv axle you’d recommend?

RCV is supposed to be the best, used their axles before on Jeeps.
However I have NOT used theirs for a Bronco.
Still rocking the stock ones here.
Others may suggest a better solution, as I haven't researched axles for our 6G's yet.
