I work at a Ford dealer Service dept, take it to your dealer, there is a TSB on it as has been mentioned. It should be covered by warranty, YOU didn't cause the damage, they wouldn't issue the TSB if it wasn't a "flaw" in the design to begin with. TSB #22-2055

For those who have gotten TSB 22-2055 performed, did they rivet the entire panel or just the broken clips? Mine is going in tomorrow and I've asked them to fix the entire panel while they have it, but the service rep said it may depend on what Ford will allow.

If these are snapping off when new, imagine what’s going to happen 5-10 years from now with repeated use/misuse.
Not to mention typical degradation of the plastic over time. Looks like a terrible design/engineering choice by Ford.

Same thing happened to me. I used LocTite Fabric glue. It has held fine for about two months now.

Can this TSB be performed without any current breakage/defect in a preventative manner?

Exactly what I was wondering! If not, I’ll have to make sure it breaks right before the next time I take it in for service…

at least before the warranty runs out it seems. Or is a TSB independent of warranty? I'd hate for these to break a week after the warranty is out, just because the plastic got more brittle after years of sun and heat.

Answering my own question, they rivetted all the way around the panel. It definitely seals much tighter now. Hopefully they make this adjustment on new production, the plastic clips are really a bad way to design it.

Please retitle your thread. This is not a soft top fail. This is a soft-top owner fail. If you've watched any of the videos, you know that you do not remove that rear flap from the corner. You merely punch out the bottom corner and then the whole rear window unit comes out with both Corners attached. The only reason those tabs break is because people are trying to remove that rear portion from the corner. We're not supposed to do that.

Well, Ford didn't order a TSB because it's such a robust design… 💁🏻‍♂️

If these tabs break this easily when they are brand new, imagine after a few years in the desert sun…

I don't disagree that they should have used metal, but again, they're not designed to be separated there.

Not at all. But you can't blame ford when you roll it off a cliff! There's nothing wrong with the top. Just remove the windows like you're supposed to. And may the fourth be with you.

There is most definitely something wrong with the top. We have broken clips without ever trying to remove the top, and we're not the only ones on here that happened to. They all broke in the winter. The design is too flimsy, and the plastic gets too brittle in the cold. There is a TSB for a reason.
