OTOH, if disabling the A.S.S. saves the starter even a start a day, that should double the life and that's a number you can see-$278 plus install. If indeed the starter is designed to last the normal life of the motor then by disabling the system you should never have to replace it in the forseeable future.
You are unlikely to wear out a starter motor on any Ford built in the past 20 years. I never give starter motor wear a second thought.

Yep that’s pretty normal. Auto start stop has been around for a while now with no noticeable impact on parts at all it seems.
During my testing phase, it also had zero impact on my mileage, so I turn it off.

Well I’m sure it does something depending on driving habits, but it won’t do something for everyone. I have mine permanently disabled also, mainly just because I think it’s annoying.

That little A button is right at my fingertips as soon as the seat belt is on, and the engine starts.

What is annoying about the feature is that it's only connection to brakes is to restart when brakes are released.y BMW has a. Auto hold option and I can sit at a ight in traffic with all feet off the pedals and it restarts when I hit the gas

I hate that the AC stops working. Sitting at a long light in 110* weather and it starts to get hot.

Should shutoff and disable if the air can’t keep up. My BS does.

Mine will not shut the engine off if the air conditioner is set to a higher setting. Crank up the fan and you'll never sit there with no AC.

I've got the manual, it starts when you push in the clutch. Way better than brake based control.

I've grown to like it. Go figure... I still don't fully understand the logic. Sometimes it doesn't turn off when I think it should and sometimes it starts up for no reason I can see.

But I also turn it off in certain conditions like others have described, stop and go, super hot weather or just cause. Pretty easy to reach out and poke the button.

My current truck I bought in 2004, I generally haul my cars to the salvage yard when I'm done with them.
I would spend the $100 on the permanent disable tool then. Beats pressing the button every start for 20 years.
