Not directly related, but I do know that the Bronco windshield wiper blade motors have load awareness. This means that if the wipers are at full blast on a dry windshield they will come to a stop / slow down to their lowest level after a minute or so.

This is meant to prevent dry operation, I understand.

I've got about 5 words there I now need to google.

Where I live, we call it a "gutter cleaner" because it clears the leaves from your rain gutters.

Of course they can be scratched. Glass is hard but not impervious to damage. Look what happens to your smart phone just from being in a pocket.

If you had dirty wiper blades they could absolutely scratch your windshield.

This is the same reason I will never ever ever use a rear wiper on any car. Too much dirt collects back there and it WILL scratch your rear window over time. Literally removed the stupid thing in it's entirety from my last car.

There are glass polishes out there, but you will need a powerful machine and even then reviews are mixed.

I deleted my rear wiper assy....
