Someone posted in another thread one time that there’s a company in… maybe Germany, I think it was(?), that makes scale metal flake paints that match OEM colors. That way, your model doesn’t look like a bass boat when you paint it with actual auto paint. I’ll have to look into it whenever I find the time to get back into modeling…

Like others here, I haven't touched a model kit since my 20s 30 ish years ago and saw the kit below and am going to take a crack at it. I want to get it as close as possible to my '24 Hot Pepper Red Black Diamond and found an automotive paint by Dupli-Color called Forest Pepper Red Pearl that is very close to HPR. It's an acrylic lacquer and I'm hoping I can use it on the plastic body. Have any of you used automotive paints on plastic without damage to it?

I also would like to try and spray a clear coat over the body after the decals are applied to keep them from peeling off with age. Has anyone else ever done this or is it not recommended? Thanks for any advice.

That is a pretty accurate model! Oh wow it even has the crappy instrument cluster.

It is pretty awesome looking at the parts. And it does come with some interchangeable parts like the rock rails or the side steps. One thing I was not impressed with at all is that this kit has no engine. Apparently, it's an industry wide thing now. Most model kits come as a category called "Curbside" meaning it's meant to be built and appear as it would on the street. Really it's just corporate double talk to gyp you out of a detailed engine bay. But if I want it, I have to take it.
