While driving home today from getting my 2 weeks old rig dirty properly, I discovered this sad site in Danbury TX:::

You know this is a Bronco forum right?

Early Bronco > IH Scout...

I think finding something like this with a group of EBs would be super rare as they are becoming very hard to find.

Nice find but sad to see these gems neglected. To me the Scout is an older cousin to the Bronco and it was the first vehicle that I ever drove.

Did you talk with the owner when you took photos? The half-cab doesn't look too far gone. The other two might be salvaged for parts. There are plenty out there that would pay to rescue these survivors. Perhaps, contact IHScoutsDaily to see if someone in their network would be interested?

Agreed.
I've saved vehicles in worse shape that that half cab.
IF the owner would be willing to sell at a decent price vs the old "It's not for sale, I'm going to fix it up one day"

I found a NICE 58 Genuine Cameo truck (very rare) in a yard back in the 90's, stopped to ask about it. It had rather high weeds all the way around it, and a small tree in front of it, much like the pic above of that half cab. But it was solid, all there, and all the glass was good in it.
Old guy was angry I bothered him, pretty much told me no way in hell was it for sale, he bought it new and was going to get it back on the road.
Fast forward to about 5 years ago.
The same truck sitting in the same spot. The tree had now grown up and in through the grille, and up out of the hood. What was left of the glass was all dark green, and you could see all the way through the floors. It never moved from that spot. Just last week I drove by it again and noticed it was gone, along with the tree.
Old iron like this that is still saveable needs to be saved.
A salvage yard close to me has a 50 Buick fastback car that at some point was saveable (no caved in panels at all). It's now part of the earth with the entire lower half of the car rusted away, tops of the wheel wells even with the ground.

Slightly closer to topic, for this forum, here's a very sad sight that I came across, several years ago. A field full of rusty remains of Edsels.

A caretaker told me that all these cars arrived, here, brand new, in mint condition, and were simply left to rot for decades.

What a terrible waste. Any one of these cars, if well-preserved and restored, would be worth perhaps a hundred thousand dollars or more these days. We're looking at a field containing what ought to have been millions of dollars worth of rare, classic cars, if they had not been allowed to decay away.

I have to assume that by now, not one of these is salvageable, even for parts, much less to try to restore.

I looked at a google street map history and it appears they were placed there back in 2014 or 2015. (didn't know you could do that with google maps)

It's all junk that is left to rot......until you ask about buying it.
It then becomes a family heirloom.

I know it's other peoples property but still think it's a shame.

Beyond restoration, but how cool would it be to "save" a couple of these by chopping them up and building race cars? Something in the spirit of the Plymford. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/the-plymford/144838/page1/
