Rust on drive train = unbalanced?

I understand the driveshaft rusts on the bronco, mine are pretty rusty . Wondering if painting with a rust inhibitor will make it unbalanced . Or should I just ignore it

Surface rust is normal. That actually forms somewhat of a protective layer. It's not likely to continue rusting until it falls apart.
Painting is primarily for cosmetics.
You can apply a rust conversion treatment that will convert the rust, then apply your choice of paint. Apply the paint evenly, it will not affect the balance.
