Running a power wire from Battery

My bronco in in the shop... So, I'm sitting and over analyzing running the power wire from the battery to a Kicker Key200.4 that I will install when it gets back. I will be pulling 2 power wires: one for the Key200.4 and a second one for a sub install (but it will stay unfused until I am ready to install a sub).

My question is: Is it OK to use any of the 3 screws I have a colored circle around. I would assume so, but I do not know. Also, I would probably pick the Yellow or Purple because they are not being used - but I will need to get a nut and lock washer for them

Next, I am guessing the grommet pictured below is the best / easiest solution to run the power wires into the cabin. From there I'd pull the Key200.4 wire to under the steering wheel, and the 2nd power wire down to the door jam, then into the rear door jam, coiled up until it's ready for use.

Any thoughts ?

Yes.

The studs you have circled in purple and yellow are intended to be used for that exact purpose.

Also... you can run the wires now, but don't connect it to the battery until you have fuses on it. Just in case those unconnected power wires somehow ground on the frame/body.

That grommet is very handy for running wires into the cabin. Used it to hook up my WolfBox bumper camera and to run a 10 AWG wire to charge a battery pack for my cooler in the rear. You can burn/melt the size hole you need using a hot screw. If you are patient you can get a nice tight fit. Thank you Ford

Something to consider depending on the power rating of your sub amp and its placement. The door jam pathways are already full of stock wiring and running anything larger than say a #6 can be difficult.

I installed my sub amp inside the plastic ice cooler under the rear floor mat and ran the power wire externally along the driver frame rail. There's a cross frame piece near the cooler box and then installed a waterproof cord grommet into cooler's side wall. The power wire is inside a black wire loom and blends in nicely.

Thanks, I am going small so I will be using 8 Gauge. Never heard that area referred to as a cooler, so I had to look it up . My storage area (small as it is) is filled with a jump pack, and some off roading stuff that I hope I'll never use.

KICKER recommends 14 gauge wire for the 200.4. No need for overkill, especially if you are mounting under the steering wheel and the amp is only a couple three feet from the battery. IIRC, Ford only ran #16 to power the to the 7 speaker subwoofer.

I think that hole is for the clutch. Don't run the wire next to the linkage if you have a manual.

My KEY200.4 came with the PNP kits harness (and he is supplying the power wire). I have not checked the gauge as his reputation seems stellar. The 8-gauge wire (the extra power wire) will be run to the cargo area and left coiled up while I determine what to do for a subwoofer. It will also be left unfused.

I forscanned the sub on, and therefore should be able to:
A) use a small amp and stuff an 8" sub in the OEM subwoofer enclosure using the signal from the OEM subwoofer plug.
or
B) use some sort of a powered sub (10"), using the signal from the OEM subwoofer plug. I'm currently looking at how to mount that to the tailgate.

That is the grommet to use. I made something a little more custom. I believe I used the terminal closest to drivers fender for my amp going off memory.

It sound like you are working on 2023 with Sub Delete.

Yup, that hole is a great place to run wires if it is unused.

What are you planning to use for a sub amp? If the Kicker 500.1, I mounted it above the glove box on the mountains2metal bracket.

If I go the sub and amp route, a NVX or small Kenwood amp, mounted where the"dummy" amp is. If I go the powered Subwoofer route a Blaupunkt, Rockville, Cerwin-Vega, or a hideaway.
