RSE (Rock Slide Engineering) table installed

Install was a breeze.
Instructions were for a JL/JK but pretty straight forward install with a bit of common sense.
Included hardware sufficient, screws aren’t too long so no worries about poking through to the exterior gate shell.
It did rattle a bit but I put rubber bumpers in strategic places and no more rattles, even on bumpy gravel.
I am very happy with it, highly recommend it.
Super handy with two levels of flat surface. Plenty big enough for that 17” electric Blackstone for all things bacon.

For the self tapping screw in the upper right hand corner, did you have to shorten it at all or did it go right in?

I watched another install video and they had to shorten theirs, I'm wondering if the same happened for your installation?

I already purchased, should be here tomorrow.

One more, could you post a pick of the placement of the rubber bumpers?Edit: I see the clear rubber bumpers.

You're correct.

I should been more specific with my question.

My specific question is did you find that the screw in the upper right corner came in contact with the hardware from the 5th wheel carrier?

In the video installation I saw there were no issues with any of the screws piercing through, the only issue was that one screw location being problematic.

No issues, I used them all as packaged.
Others have asked why I didn’t bolt it with nutserts.
I always figure if it fails I can go larger, but not smaller with the mounting hardware.

May I ask, what do you call those plastic pieces you used to stop the rattling? Couldn't think of what their called for the life of me.

Here's one that I am working on right now.

A shelf to add vertical storage to the four door.

Looking at the trunk of the truck, I could see a natural ledge going east west in the trunk, So I measured it out and a 24x48 piece of plywood would work perfectly. And of course they had it at Lowe's. No cutting even needed required though some of those rubber bumpers would help stop any scratching and potential rattling. here are a couple of pics.

And then spray painted one side black, and I'm going to spray paint the other side rapid red for when I take off the roof.

Wow. I can't like this post enough! That's very curious how a 24x48 piece fits there, almost like it was designed for that.
This gives me so many ideas.
A piece of nice, sanded plywood painted like you say is a good, cheap start.
My mind automatically went to thinking I could use some 1X1 square tube for a frame and make it out of sheet metal (or 1/4" for you hardcore people out there) for even more secure storage, and the ability to even go crazy and put in some sort of T rail or track system on the top (or even bottom) for modular gear storage, keeping things in place while moving.
Thanks for this info, as it now has my brain going on the possibilities.

It looks great and I love the two platform approach, but I don’t think I could live with the large stars cut into the side pieces. The stars are 1. Stupid looking 2. Dangerously pointy on top for a kid’s hand 3. Compromising strength on the otherwise stout looking bracket (Which I’m sure is already plenty stronger than the tailgate itself).

Agreed on all counts: Branding at the expense of the product is bad business. But the star point can be rounded off with a little cutting and filing, which I plan to do. The rest of it is a great design except for the fastening which I suspect won't age well, and the lack of an adjustment to help level the table to account for rake in the rig and/or uneven ground.
A number of people have the view that the tap screws worked good for now and you can nutset it later if necessary. But I think it will be necessary, so maybe will just do that from the start when I'm motivated, rather than annoyed later.
As for leveling, that's something I'm not sure I will really need but will figure out. LIkely not a big deal unless you are cooking on a stove that can't be safely shimmed, in which case the stove probably should just go on the ground or on a rock or a stump or something. Would be curious if anyone else thinks that's an issue with this table (and tables generally) and whether it really needs to be addressed in the installation or not, and if so how.
