I wrote to RSE, and they stated that there is a switch under the dash that allows you to turn them off.

That is true. I have that in mine but once in a while I hit it with my knee when step is down. It then remains down until I stop and open my door and realize I’ve been driving around with it extended. Need some kind of warning.
