Rock guards for extra lights?

As I contemplate lights for the end pockets or the top of the modular bumper, I was wondering what everyone's experience is with regard to rock damage (as in pebbles thrown up from another vehicle). Do you use rock guards sometimes? Only on road trips? Never? Do you use clear/amber protectors that allow light through or black ones with a company logo?

I've had aftermarket lights on almost every vehicle I've had. I've never used covers or rock guards, and never had a damaged lens.

This is in Alaska where they sand the roads with crushed rock and windshields are a wear item. Even on my RZR which took some serious rocks at high speeds offroad I never had a damaged light.

Even if you do managed to crack a polycarb lens, every offroad light worth a damn will have cheap replacement lenses available.

I've never had an issue with damage on any of my vehicles. I put them on the Bronco because it looks cool and it's advertising for the brands we sell.

On the Raptor, never put a rock guard on, never had an issue.

I may or may not run the covers on my KC's, and remove for wheeling. I never ran them on my '77 and had no issues.
