everything aftermarket is luxury bling and luxury bling always comes with a luxury price. The sellers know they sell "want" items, not "need" items and if people want something enough they'll pay for them. Be it a bunch of xmas lights or lifts or wheels and tires. All bling that's not necessary. Just like a Rolex shows the exact same time as a cheap Timex at vastly different prices.

Add the "new kid on the block" Bronco and the "first kid on the block gotta have it" customers and you get big $ prices. As with all other luxury goods.

That's how I see it, I'm not surprised at the prices I see. I'm also not paying them, bling is not my thing.

As a small business owner, my costs have gone up about 35% in the last 2 years and about 60% over the past decade.

My fees have gone up twice in the past decade, both were COLA's. Both resulted in dozens of salty customers complaining about their invoice.

I'm allowed to go bankrupt to ensure you have a bottom-price product, obviously without any gratitude from customers like yourself, but if I choose to hire people at a wage that allows them to live in this region and not be bankrupt then suddenly i'm being greedy. Love it!

FWIW, here's a suggestion that will blow your f-ing mind:
  • Buy a sewing machine ($200)
  • Learn to sew (free, because..... INTERNET!)
  • Materials to make your own seat covers: ~$600
  • SAVE SAVE SAVE!!!!! You just saved $200 and learned a life skill
And you cut out the middle man, which was hiring somebody who already invested in equipment and skilled labor to bring you a product. That's smrt.

Actually no joke - I agree with this. At least in terms of shaping metal, to make various trick parts for your 4x4.

I'm a hobbyist welder and last year added a $250 plasma cutter. Rocker guards, bumpers, all kinds of fun creative stuff you can make by turning metal to liquid.

The 4x4 as a canvas for creativity can be fun, especially because you can get away with non-showroom appearance compared to a car.

As I browse through all these after market products coming online for our trucks. I cant help but think why is everything so damn expensive?? I want decent seat covers ! $ 1000 ! NO WAY ! What's your complaint!
I do agree with you, but so far anything expensive and Made in America that I've bought has had quality like I haven't seen in years, so I'm trying to deal.

Should get better as they make more broncos. They need to spread out the costs of their expenses across all the products they sell. You could sell 100k jeep bumpers in a year but are there even 100k broncos built yet? If you're selling a 10th as many you need to mark them up a bit.

For the 2 door, it looks like the aftermarket isn't bothering half the time and just makes stuff for the 4 door since you can't sell accessories for cars that don't exist.

I mean all this and also just that a disrupted supply chain makes everything a mess.
I have noticed that 2DR parts are TBD. Not a good situation.

$75 plastic mud guards? Have you seen $500-750 rubber gator mudguards from ford??
Yeah that’s insane. Those are at least more than a thin layer of plastic. Still absurdly priced. Those should be $100 each and the RockBlox should be half that at most.

We’re early in the process. Companies have spent millions and want to recoup millions in engineering costs. It’s not easy to come up with a lot of this. I think prices will come down long term.

Quality, Quantity, Price - pick two. Also, try to buy two as a cottage industry manufacturing manager.

Easy solution, I'm purchasing exactly zero aftermarket accessories for my Bronco except for running boards.

Then I take it back, I didnt pick up your snarkiness :)
I’m in procurement and many things for construction are hard to find
Everything from attic stairs to lumber
Also labor
Drivers, pullers, employees
