Not sure if this is old news or not, but I've been using a right angle attachment and my cordless drill to remove/install the top. Saves an enormous amount of time and I don't have to worry about the handle of my socket wrench hitting (and possibly breaking) the side glass or any other components in that tight area where the bolts are.

Not sure if anyone has thoughts, positive or negative, but wanted to share since this board has been a phenomenal resource for me.

Sounds good as long as the right angle drill doesn't accidentally over tighten the hardtop bolts. And yes I also smacked the glass first time using the OEM rachet.

By the way is there any official tightness recommendation for the hardtop bolts? I tend to under tighten them, not wanting to crack anything.

I use the torque setting on the collar of the drill so it doesnt really do more than hand tighten. I also just bought the rockworx bolts but haven't installed them yet.

@Squatch - that is a great tool and obviates the need for a right angle attachment for a drill. If I buy one though, my wife will make me throw out a tool as I am now limited to, "if you get a new tool, an old one has to go..." (unless I bring it home when she is not around!)

I told my wife a while ago to embrace her mistakes. She hugged me! (Not true, but one of my favorite lines)

One? 🤣 ;)

I've got tools that were my dad's, my grandfather's and my uncle's that are lying in wait for the day to be called into action.
And when that day comes, I'm usually in Home Depot buying a new tool that wouldn't give you tetanus from just looking at it.
