Looking to remove the carpet from my 4 door and put in a washout-style.

I've seen this product from Armorlite, which looks good to go, but I wanted to see if anyone here can speak to their experience with it.

Ford Bronco Removing Lux Carpet/Replacing with Armorlite? 1782951822763-r5

Did you install yourself or have a shop do it? How long did it take? How well do the drain plugs function?

Also if anyone has any pictures of the khaki color that would be great, it seems a bit too light but you cant ever tell online.

Lastly, what do you do about the rear seatbacks/cargo floor? This replacement is only for the passenger area, the rear of the vehicle still has carpet. Can I tear that out as well, or are mats over top about as good as it gets back there?

Consider sound deadening along with Armorlite. It’s not a waterproof liner, you can’t use high volume water flow or it wil get underneath. (The OEM washout floor is no different.) There are videos on YouTube that show how to do the install. It took me two days including installing Sound Skins sound deadening. I have a OEM cargo mat on top of the carpet in the rear, that does great with a Great Dane onboard. The drain plugs work as they should. I have zero regrets, it looks fantastic. If I buy another Bronco I will do it again.

Yes I'm aware of the non-waterproof nature of these wash out floors.

Question, does having the sound deadening underneath it affect that water drainage to the passive drains? I guess Im not familiar with the material, whether it would displace water or trap it in place...

I used a precut kit and it fit nicely around the drains. The deadening material is waterproof and water won't be able to get underneath it if it's installed well, so it shouldn't block enough drainage to make any difference.

Armorlite is awesome

Hardest part of the install was around the transmission tunnel - getting the trim caps off where the bolts are was honestly the hardest part. I did take the seats out - made it easy to lay out and fit fantastic

Honestly I think you are wasting your time putting anything under it for noise - it’s nearly 3/4” thick rubber already - but you do what you wanna do with your Bronco.

Being able to clean out dust/dirt/dog hair with a leaf blower is the best thing
ever

For the cargo area - Ford sells a replacement cargo bed for thr washout interior that replaces the carpet. Much much better than cargo liners, but won’t contain spills and is a bit pricey. I don’t have the P/N handy but will look it up when I can.

Don't do the deadening - The Armolite won't fit properly; it's sized with very low tolerance to make it fit well.

I am planning the same upgrade for my Raptor. It looks pretty easy.

I watched this video, and the guys were pretty good at pointing out the mistakes they made.

<-- they talk about some items they would do differently.

Side question, do you use seat covers of any kind over the leather? I'm trying to ruggedize the lux interior and I cant decide if I want some kind of cover over the seats

I can second this statement as a fellow Bronco owner who also has a Great Dane and Armorlite flooring. Cleaning up dog hair, crumbs from the kids or just general dust and dirt is so so much easier. With floor mats, stuff still finds it way into the factory carpet and becomes hard to get out. Not any more!! I can’t comment on the sound skins because I didn’t even know that was a thing, until now.

Overall this is a huge improvement from the factory carpet and floor mats option. I had husky floor mats before and as good as they were, it still couldn’t protect everything. Now I don’t have to worry about it at all. I agree with the others. Install can be a PITA. Especially the center console area. There’s some good YouTube videos that detail it well. Also don’t do what I did and bust off the stud that holds the rear seat bench down. Not sure if I had the wrong torque spec or if I set it wrong or maybe I was on an angle when torquing it down. Either way, I spent 3x as much time drilling out and removing that broken stud as I did with the whole Armorlite install. Good luck!!

Not true. The only thing that didn't fit was the trim caps for the rear seat posts. Otherwise, it all works. It was a tight fit, and getting the trim panels back in was a bitch, but nothing had to be altered. Also, in the installation video from sound skins, you can see a Armorlite box in the background.
