Hello - Has anyone here removed or know how to remove the camera stalk for the rear camera? Alternately, is there an aftermarket spare tire carrier out there that does not have the camera stalk? TIA!

I removed mine when I switched out bumpers. I used a cutoff wheel and initially cut it off as far down as I could. There's a interior piece that holds the camera that can be removed and then re installed after if you choose to use it. I have a Road Armor bumper with tire carrier and hated their mounting options for the camera, which is why I cut mine off to use it on the new carrier.

So I have to cut it off. I was hoping it was seamed/bolted on somehow, but I did not see any way for that to happen. Crap - did not want to mangle it up for the project I am working on. May have to find one in a bone yard and use that instead ... just so I can keep the warranty gods happy. Thank you for responding.

I have an aftermarket front bumper and camera relocation kit. The stock front camera holder fits the rear camera.
I have a JCR rear bumper with the twin swings out, one with the spare on it.

I took the OE rear spare tire carrier apart. Removed the camera. Got a new cable on Amazon. Ran the new cable under the vehicle, to the bumper, through the swing arm.
Bolted the front mount to the JCR swing arm.
Its lower now, but still works great for backing up.

Oh my. This is a possible game changer. I also bought that piece as I was just playing around. I have the OEM rear bumper. I am wondering if I could just mount it center mast under the spare tire. I could avoid drilling through the sheet metal then (even running the camera line with shrink on it). This gives me many ideas. Thank you for responding.

I had a follow up question: Did you do any weather sealing for the camera? I have the same part you are showing here and am noticing gaps above and below. Was not sure if the camera itself is "weatherproof" or at least resistant. Considering mounting up on the third brake light. Thank you!!

No weather proofing needed.

This is good news. I am definitely thinking this project will happen over the winter and be installed on a decent early Spring day.

I made a fancy home-made camera bracket that I was oh-so-proud-of when I deleted my spare and installed a molle panel back there. Now I have to make it again.

Here's a "don't be like me" tip: the factory camera actually points DOWN - not straight back horizontal. Yeah, never considered that. So while my rear camera works - it's not quite the same view as when it was stock. And can't see the trailer hitch.

Oh well...it does work. Which is why the "re make the bracket" project has been pretty far down on the to-do list since. One of these days...

This is helpful. The front camera OEM bracket (it's something like 9 bucks) does aim the camera down, so I plan to use that as part of the project. The next step is to find a used spare tire carrier with the camera and the light that I can tear apart so the original is available in case I mess it all up.

Can you provide the camera extension link from Amazon?

If I am tracking this right, you attached the camera to the molle panel that is part of your delete?

This is helpful. With my project! I am thinking about moving the camera to attach it to the third brakelight. I get the sense I would lose some functionality from what you posted.
