I received an alert for a Bronco available at a local dealer in SoCal asking me if I was interested in placing an order since the vehicle posted was a presold custom order. They said they were collecting pre-orders and that when the order banks opened up they can submit after getting a signature to avoid a markup.

When I asked if the could " provide me with a Buyers Order or Purchase Agreement, signed by (You/Dealer) and myself which list the full order and final selling cost of the vehicle? Not just MSRP but the final selling cost of the vehicle, not to be confused with an Order Preview Sheet."

They replied:
" Unfortunately, we wouldn't be able to offer that since we would need a vin number and the vehicle here to have its OTD cost which would include its registration/taxes. The best we can offer is a build sheet that includes your order, and all the options you've selected, and all the prices break down for the MSRP, in which you'd sign and fill out. That would only be done after finishing the preorder and when the bank is open. "

How true is this and is there any chance of me getting an ADM on my order?

just ask them to put it writing they will sell the vehicle per the sticker price with no additional markups.

don't need a vin for that.

90% to 100% chance there will be an ADM. That will not protect you at all.

Kearney Mesa is a quality dealer in SoCal that can take care of you. Try them.

I could understand them not wanting to write down OTD costs. No one knows how long it would take Ford to build the truck, and MSRP could increase, and re-ordering, etc

imo, having the dealer sign a buyers order that states selling price will be MSRP is sufficient.

I didn't get a purchase agreement on my original order, but dealer signed one for me when I re-ordered in October '21. Certainly had no VIN at that time.

if you're in socal (costa mesa) , I would recco Theodore Robins Ford ask for Raffi. They were honest and easy to work with but you won't get any updates until its delivered so you'll have to get by with your build week group.

Avoid Huntington Beach Ford,

If you're closer to San Diego, Kearny Mesa Ford from what i've heard are honest and were great with updates.

My dealer provided the build sheet (with cost), had me sign it and is honoring MSRP. They can't quote out the door costs until the vehicle is on their lot. That is totally normal and expected.

Villa Ford of Orange did not add any mark up on my preorder Bronco. Just tax, license and the state regulated doc fee of $82.

Make sure you put down at least one dollar with your signed agreement. I’m not sure specifics about CA and contracts but something signed with nothing exchanged is just considered a promise in a lot of places (which isn’t legally binding).

Sounds fishy to me.

Sorry but if Jeep, Audi, MB, BMW, etc manage manage to negotiate price and sign agreements for custom orders at the time the order is placed without a VIN, I fail to see why a Ford dealership can't.
