I wasn't sure what motor/trans OP has. I have a 4-dr (longer tailpipe vs 2-dr) 2.3L manual and am in the process of installing the Steeda. I added an tip extension (black) that has a slight bend and plan on turning it sideways (vs down). I have watched various videos on stock vs Steeda and it's still a bit tough to know if I will love it or hate it. Since my 2026 has ESE (all have since 2024), the only way to evaluate the sound coming from the exhaust is to drive in Eco which is suppose to disable ESE. Hopefully tomorrow, I will finish the install and can evaluate the added noise. I had hoped it would be similar to the ESE fake added noise and plan on disabling ESE either by myself or ask the dealer.

With that downpipe, you're going to get noise with pretty much anything other than the stock muffler. I think you would need to come up with a custom mix of muffler near the driveshaft and a resonator across the rear where the stock muffler was. I have the MBRP overland with my 2.7 and it's fine most of the time. When I took the top off for the first time, I was really surprised how loud it was without the top. And that's with the stock cats and y-pipe. So I'm sure it would be quite a bit louder with an aftermarket downpipe/cat. My guess would be the Borla touring or S-type I think that seemed to be the quietest. The MBRP stuff I have is both straight through so you probably need to find a real muffler/resonator that isn't straight through to have any hope. I would probably go back to the stock downpipe/converter and then most of the cat-back exhausts would most likely work fine (other than the obvious noise makers).

If you want to keep the downpipe, and a spicy muffler you should try a Vibrant resonator. It would still have volume but cut the drone down significantly if done right. You might still need to grab a different muffler if yours is a bottle type.

I'm running the MRT Trail Rated Axle Back. Can barely hear it in the cabin but outside has a nice low tone. ZERO drone.

I concur. I too use the MRT Trail Rated GOAT muffler. I made my own axle back using this muffler and stainless 90 degree pipes from Amazon and it sounds great. Not loud at all when just cruising. Cold start it’s very noticeable but sounds great. Wide open throttle sounds even better. absolutley zero drone. I’m completely satisfied and would do it again.

I am currently building another axle back the same exact way but with a Borla Pro XS muffler this time. I just want to see how it sounds compared and I scored it new for $29.

What I like about MRT trail muffler. Smaller of course but the tailpipe turns down. Tucked up out of the way when off roading. Most exhaust has the tailpipe coming straight out the back. Either single or double. Louder yes, drone yes, not much louder than the tires. Still have stock tires, if people through mudders on what drone. So many choices and so many opinions of what sounds good or sounds like crap.

Varex valved catback might be worth checking out. The price is about the same or less than the other 304 options.

I had this very same issue when adding long tube headers on my mustang. If you want anything near stock volume, I recommend you reinstall the stocker. It would be a shame to remove the downpipe, but just like headers on a V8, the exhaust noise is going to increase significantly. Your only quiet choice for aftermarket is likely Borla touring and they are super expensive and still may be louder than you want. It will still be a good amount louder even with stock muffler.
