Has anyone has any problems putting the soft top down? The second day I had mine I was learning all the things and put the top down and scratched the roll bar because the frame rubbed on the way back. I don't know if it's because I'm a girl and not as tall or strong as the average man but it's really hard to push it back standing on the side. I have found that I need to stand on the back seat to make it go back straight and not rub or scratch the roll bar. I had bought a bikini top and had planned to leave it on all the time but when I was going to put it on I realized that I can't stand on the back seat and heave the top back with it on. So I'm just wondering if I got a bad top or I'm just too short? It seams like it would flip back a lot easier than it does.

You're just too short. Jokes aside, the soft top rubbing the roll bar while lowering it to the stowed position is a known issue. Easy fix is to buy some vinyl and apply it to the roll bar where it rubs.

There is also a TSB for 2021's. Not sure if 22's already have the fix applied.

I would invest in a set of these.

IAG EZ-Lift Soft Top Assist Struts

We rented a Bronco for a couple of weeks through Turo and though I didn't put the top fully down - I found folding it back to position 1 was SO much easier than ours (locking it as well). This is a separate concern - but, I am curious if some production models received stiffer struts than others. They don't seem to be adjustable.

I installed paint protection film on the roll bars after I got a small scratch in the paint. Maybe you can use a step stool for some extra height.

I ordered the lift strut kit yesterday, lol. This is such a bad design! But I feel a little better that it wasn't my fault it was scratched. With all these problems you'd think they'd do something about it.

I had thought about using a step stool, lol. Where did you get the protection film?

IAG was including a set of PPF strips with their strut kits originally. I don’t know if they’re still included, but they would still sell them to you, I’m sure.

For your initial issue of lifting the top from position 1, I agree on the step stool suggestion. That would give you more leverage, and with it, more control.

Now here’s a pro tip for when you get the IAG struts (which you should): Once you’ve lifted the top from position 1, it will go back to a certain point and then the struts will keep it suspended there. At this point, open the tailgate, and using your stool, stand up and pull the top all the way down from the center. This will keep it from binding up and creating more scratches…

Can't put horizontal pressure on the top as your trying to put it down which it sounds like might be happening. Your 22 will have little soft feet on the part that scrapes your roll bar but if you push hard enough against it you will still scratch the roll bar.

When sitting in the front seats, unlatch both front latches.

Stand on your driver side door sill and fold the top back.

Unlock the lock obove the rear door, open and stand on the sill, and push all the way back.

My process is to lower the top, once folded back from the front, is to stand in the middle of back seat. That way you can lower it evenly. If you try to lower from one side you’ll continue to have this issue. Good luck.

Edit:I do the same thing to raise evenly when putting top back up.

Yeah, she was mentioning above that she can’t do that any more, because she has a bimini top installed…

I bought it from IAG. I had my Bronco in a shop for some graphics and the guy there installed his own film instead of the stuff I bought. I have had it to long to return it. if you want it, I can mail it to you for free. Send a DM with an address

Mine came with some little velcro pads on the top where you'd expect it to rub, but yeah you gotta be careful. You can buy 3M Clear Bra on Amazon and wrap it around the bars.
