Power port on always on fix

I am pretty sure I have been able to turn the power port in the rear to the "always on" mode. I did it in FORScan in the BdyCM module under "As Built" 726-57-01. The fix was xxxx-00xx-xxxx.

Originally it would time out after exiting the vehicle or turning the engine off. I tried a few things to change that and it would then shut off when I turned off the power. With the changes above, it seems to be on all the time. Every time I check it it has power. I just hope that it does not turn on when I open the door. I now have a 120V converter plugged into it that draws a little power. It has a light on it that I can see without opening a door. That should confirm if it is truly always on.

I'm sure you know this, just be careful. Letting that parasitic draw go unchecked for hours will eventually put your Bronco into Deep Sleep mode, and then it will kill the power port (along with several other things)

How low does the battery have to get to go into deep sleep? I was thinking it may just shut off the power port if the battery got low.

I do a lot of long term off-road adventures in isolated wilderness. I use a low power draw refrigerator for some of my food. I use solar for times when we stay in one location more than one day. When sun is not strong, the battery has drained enough on my Ranger to the point it would not start. I have a NOCO jump starter for those occasions. Is this that is going be a problem with my Bronco?

As an update, the 120V converter was on all afternoon and I will leave it on all night. I think that should be enough to verify it is always on.

I’m not certain what the exact conditions are - the BMS monitors more than just voltage so it could vary based on temp and age of the battery, and it also tracks amps in vs amps out (i.e. if you use an external charger improperly it won’t register)

Deep Sleep you should still have enough power to start the Bronco - that’s kind of the point of it. It shuts down all the power ports, turns off the modem for OTA updates, and won’t do convenience things like turn on lights when you open the doors. Pretty much the only thing that will still work would be ignition and anything you have directly wired to the battery

So it does turn off the power point, it’s just that it doesn’t stop with just that.

Well, I left the converter plugged in all night and it was off in the morning at 11:00. It started fine and everything else seemed to work fine. The doors unlocked remotely but I did not check to see if the interior light came on when I opened the door. After driving a couple miles to go shopping, I plugged it back in and the port was back on again. I am going to leave it plugged in again today and check it periodically to see how long it stays on before turning off again.

I like that it shuts the power port off to assure it will start. Many of the new 12V refrigerators have a feature built in that shuts the refrigerator down when the voltage gets low. My refrigerator is about 30 years old and they did not have that feature then. It will keep operating even if the voltage is too low the start the engine.
