Found someone in the Bay Area that is selling a single takeoff but hard to find a shop that will shave the tread to match the depth

Use your current spare as part of the normal 4 tire rotation and get the single takeoff to be your new spare. Then, when the 4 tires get too worn, you can either decide on 4 new tires to match the spare or go with a different brand. I've never done 5 tire rotations in 40+ years of driving so it's not a big deal.

I would patch it from the inside and not think twice about it.

I understand it's good practice and there's a potential for failure but I've run them like that before without issue.

Hell I had a hole so big(not in the sidewall) it took 3 rope plugs to seal and I never had a single issue with it.

Alot of people didn't know, when you purchase a new or pre-owned vehicle, if the tires have fairly new tread, you can purchase a Discount Tire road protection. I did with 9k on my 22 wildtrak.
