Openroad 270 with rooftop tent???

I’m about to pull the trigger on this awning, but was curious how it fits with a rooftop tent. Anyone have experience? I have the GOBI rack, so I believe I must buy the brackets from GOBI.

Me too. Have Gobi racks, OpenRoad rooftop tent, 270° awning, shower awning+water heater+5gal water tank all mounted with Gobi brackets. It’s a must!! 3 times I came close to losing my tent bc nuts worked themselves loose.

Dont have a Gobi rack (trailrax instead), but here is an example of fitment on a 2 Dr with openroads 270 awning and TopOak Rooftop tent.

Don’t get me wrong, Gobi builds the strongest roof rack I’ve seen. It’s about as strong as a roll bar. And the tents and awnings from OpenRoad are awesome. It was just the brackets sent when I told em I had a Gobi rack that didn’t work out. Like putting a square peg in a round hole.

I run an OpenRoad 270 with a rooftop tent, and they work well together as long as you have enough clearance for the awning to swing open. With a GOBI rack, you’ll most likely need the GOBI-specific mounting brackets. Just make sure to position the awning so it doesn’t interfere with your RTT when it’s opened or closed

I ordered the awning and GOBI brackets yesterday. My wife said she didn’t want to sit in the rain anymore, so I didn’t even have to try to justify the expense.

I've been looking at the same setup. My biggest concern is whether the 270 awning has enough clearance to fully deploy with the rooftop tent open, or if the tent overhang gets in the way. If anyone is running the Openroad 270 with a GOBI rack and RTT, I'd love to see a few photos and hear how well it works in real-world use.
