In March/April, I will *fingers crossed* be getting a Bronco from a dealership in Iowa. I am in Texas and prefer to have it shipped to me rather than go up there to get it. For anyone that has bought a Bronco and had it shipped to you, did you go with an open or closed shipping trailer? I know enclosed will cost more, but for a $60k vehicle, perhaps it is worth it for the peace of mind. Looking forward to thoughts and feedback, thanks!

I shipped my '19 wrangler and '02 Trans Am from FL to PA when I moved 2 years ago via open air carrier. Had no issues. If I were you I might go enclosed if it was a little more, but when I looked into it I think enclosed was 3-5 times more, and unless it is some exotic garage queen, I'd just go open air. They're shipped to dealers on open air (though I was surprised to see they are enclosed in the trains).

Thanks, yeah I think the quotes I've seen it is just less than double to ship enclosed. I think the cheapest open air I saw was $400, and an enclosed quote I got was $750.

In that case I'd totally go with enclosed. I paid just over $1K each for my vehicles. Looks like Iowa to Texas is a lot shorter than FL to PA, but with fuel prices now compared to 2021, I'm really surprised its that cheap!

I was surprised too, then again I didn't do extensive research. I just typed in my info on some car shipping website then I got bombarded with quotes from like 10 different companies. According to google, it's about 683 miles from the dealership in Iowa to my house in TX.

I used Montway.com to arrange transporting my wife's Telluride from Denver to the Pacfiic NW. Cost was just under $1k for open transport and closer to $1900 for enclosed. Enclosed also was going to take them longer to be able to schedule. For open transport I booked on a Friday, they picked it up Monday, and I had it that next Friday. Was very happy with Montway.

I second Montway.com, we had our Bronco shipped from Utah to California in an enclosed trailer, then had it in an enclosed area on a cargo ship to Hawaii.

Open carrier will be fine. If you need a contact for a shipping broker message me. Got a friend that’s been doing it for years. He ships all out stuff. Over 30 vehicles shipped, zero issues or blown deadlines.

Looked at my records and I used Montway as well. Just over $2200 for my Jeep and T/A to go from FL to PA. The only issue I had was that the vehicles would get there before I would, but luckily I grew up in the area and had a buddy pick them up and drive them to his house. He was also my realtor, so the day we drove into PA, did our walk through, and closed on the house, he drove me back to his place and I drove the Jeep home. A few days later we went and I got the T/A ;)

FWIW, I sold my Mustang to a fellow in Texas who was on the fence between open and closed. He finally decided open. When the carrier arrived I was appalled to see oil and fluids dripping from cars on top to ones on the bottom. A chain swinging that left huge scratches on the car below. I called the buyer (this was at 11:00 PM) and told him I didn't want his car (my old car) on this carrier. We decided too load it if he moved it to the very top front of the carrier, which he did. I would go enclosed in a heartbeat with a new Bronco.

Thank you. With my luck, something like this would TOTALLY happen to me!

go enclosed.
years ago my parents moved from the east coast to west coast and shipped their two vehicles via open carrier. their audi S4 quattro was on the upper level. the carrier ended up passing some low hanging branches and scratching the bejesus out of all the top surfaces.

i think the carrier’s insurance paid more for the repair than the cost of shipping!
