Doesn't Ford have an "extreme conditions" factor? Cutting the miles between oil changes in half? As I recall, driving on dirt roads is considered operating under extreme conditions.

There are certainly conditions that this formula doesn’t account for. To wit, cold starts and short trips.

For my F150, if I drive short trips in the city during winter then my oil life monitor tops at less than 4,000 miles. On the other hand, long road trips in warm weather stretch it to 10,000 miles.

Been changing oil in daily drivers at 5000miles for decades.
In other news; man lands on the moon.

all kidding aside, its interesting to see some folks try to put data behind the numbers.

I work for a company with a very large fleet of f-series pickup trucks. We change oil at 5,000 miles. F550s bucket trucks get changed at 300 hrs and larger bucket trucks at 700hrs.

I also change everything I own at 5,000 miles(or 1 year) and have forever.

Since manufacturers developed algorithms for oil changes that adjust for how I drive I have followed those. Including 9000-10000 mile intervals on both our X4 and Bronco. I actually did not wait for Ford to tell me it was time for first change but did so at 7500.

Turbo engines new the oil changed more often.
Not according to my Ford Pass, it says based on my driving habits it don't have to change the oil until Dec. 22. I'll do it at 5k miles, but telling ya what it says.
