Non-refundable $2500 deposit normal?

Mine is asking me for a $1000 order deposit, but they're applying my original $100 reservation deposit - so I only have to pay $900 now.

At this point, in my opinion, no dealer should be asking for a non-refundable deposit for any amount.

I expect to give a $500-1000 refundable deposit. Worst case scenario is that I back out and he sells it with ADM. I'd run. You have until March 19th to transfer your reservation...

I'm doing 1000 because that's what they asked (B.C. Canada) but I was told it would be refundable and that I could get that in writing as well.

I completed my build in mid November at the dealer and they took a $500 deposit.
I have since opted to make a change and wait for the dual tops which changed the price but all I had to do was sign the cover page of the order and I was done.
