Looking to buy vintage bullet dish wheels for my 2023 Bronco OBX. My Bronco is not lifted and I will pull the crash bars to accommodate new offset wheels. I am keeping the 285/70R17 tires that I now have on Badlands optional wheels.

Wheel selection includes the following:

Pro Comp 17x9 with -6mm offset, 4.75" backspace

ION 17x9 with 0 offset, 5" backspace

American Racing 17X8 with 0 offset, 4.5" backspace.

What would be your choice of wheels? Is lug centric sufficient or would it be best to get hub centric adapters?
Any other problems I need to consider?

Suggestions and advice are welcome.

I have a 2024 OBX with the 18" stock rims and tires. I went through the options for rims like the Mickey Thompson Classic III style (8 hole), polished finish. I really wanted the flat surface near the tire to be as deep as possible. BUT - I do not want the tires to stick out from the fender wells. I used to own a Jeep TJ that had tires sticking out 1.5" and every puddle coated the entire side of the TJ.

I looked at the offsets, the rim sizes (17" and 18"), and the style of the various options. (The 8 holes in the rim of the various brands/model are significantly different from each other. Some I like, some I do not.) I looked at:
- Mickey Thompson Classic III
- ION Polished 171
- ProComp Polished 69
- American Racing AR172
- G-FX TR-16

It looked like the G-FX TR-16 is the best option to keep the wheels under the fender flares. (18x9, +12 mm offset.) Since used OEM Ford OBX rims are not worth much used, and Bridgestone does not recommend the P255/70R18 be installed on a 9" wide rim, I have paused. Stock OBX rims are 7.5" wide, Bridgestone recommends no wider than a 8.5" rim.

So, I plan on running the OEM rims for a while, watch and see if something new comes out in the next couple of years, and then get new rims and tires. If I did it today, I would get 17" rims. Watching this thread to learn more!

Thanks - Doug

If you want the best tire selection, the 17's win hands down.
