I placed an order for a BB with the dealer today and was given a priority code of 5. I believe the general manager of this dealership had the regional Ford rep order it. Has anyone seen if this makes any difference in the truck being built faster?

Yes. A PC below 10 requires the zone rep to authorize. No guarantee that it won't sit in purgatory waiting to be delivered. There is no priority when it comes to delivery.

I didn’t ask for it. Apparently the GMs computer was down and he called the regional guy to place the order.

Hum I might ask my dealer about that for my Ranger Raptor order.

Thought dealers had access down to 3 now with 1 & 2 belonging to Ford.

That's really awesome. My order was the first one in at my dealership within 30 mins from the order banks opening, and I'm a priority 19.

Dealers can now set retail orders as low as priority code 3. Ford made that adjustment in May after they laid off the majority of the Zone reps last summer.

ANYWAY... I'm guessing you (@mzman) are the one that posted on Reddit, for anyone else who comes across this... I'll copy/paste:

The actual number (in most cases) doesn't matter. What matters is your priority code relative to other orders at your specific dealer. If you are priority code 5 and every other order is priority code 4, your order will be prioritized last. If you are priority code 5 and every other order is priority code 6, your prioritized first.

Every dealer has a different scheme or method to prioritize orders. And the priority codes at one dealership has no impact to the priority of orders at other dealer.

Orders are not guaranteed to be built in priority code order. There are other factors that go into the scheduling algorithm, including market basket analysis, commodity constraints, dealership allocations, etc. etc. I, for example, had my priority code set to 17 and bypassed ~40 other orders at my dealer that had a lower priority code than I did.

Yeah, that's not me. I've never been on Reddit. I've obviously not kept abreast of ordering as I wasn't aware of the zone rep getting nixed. Used to be that the dealer could only set PC 10 and above. Ford always reserved 1 & 2 for the extreme cases.

I spoke with the sales manager. They are not able to change the priority code and he showed me in the system. It’s automatically generated. So looks like I have to stick with lucky number 13. 🤔

I recently asked to be changed from 10 to 99 to delay the order due to some life circumstances. Then, a few days later when the problem resolved itself I asked to be taken off 99. They put me on 3.

I don’t know if this helps me, but I’m sure it can’t hurt.

Well, at least at your dealership, you won’t be any worse off as far as priority is concerned. But as @RagnarKon says, priority within your dealership is the least of your issues as far as getting scheduled.

Congrats! A factory sanctioned priority code does make a huge difference and they’re scheduling those right now for initial 24my production ahead of standard dealer orders. With a simple BB build you’re very likely to be sitting on an early 24my VIN on Thursday.
