Hi There, Just wanted to say hi to everyone and introduce myself. My wife and I are new to Broncos and are looking for a 2024 2dr or possibly 4dr BD or BL with the 2.7 Auto. I currently have a 2019 F150 with the 2.7 and love it. My question is if the Bronco will see 90% pavement to and from my wife's job and only a little light off roading at our farm in the Catskills would we okay with the BD 4.46 rear locking axle and opened front axle or like my gut tells me for deep snow get the BL with the 4.46 locking front and rear axles? Also what is a fair market price on these trucks?
Thank you,
Steve

Stick with the Black Diamond, it'll be just fine in the deep snow. Not sure I know of anyone using a front locker driving through the snow, but then again, I don't know many people either.

As for fair pricing, well Ford threw that out the window a couple years ago. But if you ask me, you should be paying BELOW MSRP, and should have a shot at below invoice as well since dealer lots are overflowing.

I have seen more reports of people breaking their front diff with a front locker in the snow than I have of people getting too stuck to get out because they didn't have a front locker in the snow.

The Bronco in 4Hi (or really, 4A, but there are some folks here who shy away from 4A), with good tires, beats out all the lockers you could possibly ever have in the snow. I won't lie, a rear locker is nice, and I wouldn't turn down a front locker - but the front locker just isn't nearly as useful, and even the rear locker pales in comparison to what a good snow tire can do for you. Can't count the number of times I've watched a 2wd mini van with good snow tires pull a 4WD Tacoma out of the ditch in snow season...

Tires are the key for snow driving.

Not saying to avoid the Badlands, those are really nice rigs - but no, you definitely don't need anything beyond that Black Diamond to drive what you are describing (and honestly even that is overkill!). Take the money you save on the trim and invest in a second set of dedicated snow tires and it will be way better in the snow than the Badlands is stock.

Act quick, I hear the Black Diamond model is going to be discontinued. I live in the MN snow with a stock Black Diamond and have never used lockers. 4A or 4H works fine. "Light offroading", maybe lockers.

If you want a great deal and don't mind traveling to get it, check out Granger Ford in Iowa. They are typically below MSRP.
