I just picked up my 23 BL with the 7 speaker system but it has the dummy amp and sub.

I'm working on upgrading everything... Below is my current setup plan.

Kenwood excelon X802-5 5 channel amp
MB Quart PS1-316 6.5" 3 way speakers for front stage

Rears:
Mabett Speaker pods
MB Quart FKB116 6.5" 2 way coaxial

Sub:
DS18 SLC10S

My question is how can I get the sub line out? I have the llj harness to tap into the speaker level inputs but would I need to tap into the amp plug in the back for the sub or will the speaker levels provide that signal as well?

Speaker level output will provide the signal to the sub as well. Use the front output as the rear is capped in freq range. The existing sub also is capped at a max volume of 19. Using the speaker output allows you to push past the 19 limit.
Running a JL Audio HO box with JL Audio XD600 and hits very well. Usually listening at vol 22, wired as mentioned above.

Exactly what I needed! Thank you! If I didn't already have the amp and sub from my last car I would have gone with the JL Audio too

Is that the 12” HO sub? I was thinking of going with it. Sounds like you like it 👍🏼

Yes, I do. Hits very hard for a single sub. Feels like two subs most of the time. Highly recommend. Amp pairs very nicely with it.

I’m debating between the 12” HO you have and the 12” JL ACP112LG-TW1 powered sub. I like the powered sub because it’s a smaller package, has the built in amp, and is less expensive, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about the 12” HO. 🤔

I have this same set. Where do you plan on mounting tweeters?
I guess that's the million dollar question. My preference would be in the A Pillar but I don't think there's enough room with the duct that's there. I've been too lazy to pull the trim off since I'm not thrilled about pulling the airbag to do it. Worst comes to worst, I'll surface mount it in the corner of the speaker grills.

Pulling the trim off the a pillars and roll bars isn’t bad at all, just had all of ‘em off to install dome lights.

Best of luck. I have 2 way 4" and 2 way 6.5" as a back up if I can not find a good mounting spot.

I checked out both the powered and the HO and ultimately went with the HO due to availability of air space in the box for the sub. The powered one didn't have a much air space and ultimately couldn't hit a hard. It's more about preference as I listen to mine at high volumes most of the time and really enjoy feeling it. Can't go wrong with either box though. I would make sure you have a security enclosure if you take your top off. Just a little more peace of mind. The HO box also takes up a little more space.

I appreciate the advice! I like to listen at higher volumes and feel the bass as well. I do have the same raised lid cargo enclose as you (I knew I’d eventually get a sun installed back there and wanted it out of sight and locked up). Too bad you’re not closer, I’d love to hear you system. Thanks again!

Here's where I've placed everything. Bass knob, Amp, line out converter, and sub.
