I pulled the trim under the steering wheel and found this mysterious black box. I did not see a ford part number on it and looks like it might have been added at the dealership. It doesn't look right because it looks like a posi-tap was used

Does anyone have any idea what this is? Maybe lo-jack?

I mounted my Kicker Key amp on the other side of that brace. That is not a factory item. No offense but did you finance at a high interest rate? They often put locators in such vehicles.

Most likely a GPS tracker installed by the dealer, or a nefarious delivery driver. Check your purchase contract. If there is nothing in there about a GPS, disconnect that ground. Or take the whole thing out. That will drain your battery if hooked up to full time power. The 2 cut wires are likely ignition input for the white and starter kill for the green.

EDIT

Looks to be a Spireon Kahu tracker. Definitely installed by your dealer. Make sure you didnt pay for it. Looks like a lot of dealers add those with the mysterious $2000 mandatory protectant package charges. Definitely remove it if is not required by your finance contract.

No, I got 2.79% interest on my loan. They had to have put it on even before I arrived. Once I got there to pick it up, no one touched it

Dealer installed. Especially since there's no pigtail and just a power and ground wire. I've had mine opened several times putting in switch and fog lights and I have nothing mounted on that plate.

Did you purchase the Perimeter Plus security system? That’s what it looks like to me and I ordered it for my Bronco…whenever if finally ships.
