I don’t really care about MPG on my soon to arrive Bronco but I would have paid a few thousand more if the offered their Ford Lion 3.0 diesel that we have in our 2018 Range Rover. It roughly the same size as a Bronco at 5,000 lbs and gets 29 mpg in mixed driving and my driving style is harder than most. It also has 443 ft/lbs of torque available at 1,700 rpm. We’ve had zero issues with ours in 64,000 miles and It would be the perfect engine for the Bronco.

Premium fuel? Eco mode? No hills?

I'm trying to figure out how people are getting over 21-22 mpg. It must be because I'm constantly climbing hills where I am.
Steady speeds on highway or back roads (limited stops/starts) for one. A big contributor is speed; anything over 70 mph will drop the mileage drastically.

NW Ohio where it is pretty flat. I shift at 2300 rpm to stay out of the Turbo as much as possible. I also drive 55mph on the country roads. I will say, I drove 1 hour with a tailwind and got 25mph on the tank, but then fought the wind for an hour on the way back home and the average mpg for the tank dropped to 19, so wind has a huge effect.
I also always drive in normal mode. I noticed ECO mode hurt mpg when highway driving slightly, but it helped slightly in city driving. 87 octane gas as well

If you never get your engine up to operating temperature you get condensation and moisture(water) in the engine. Not allowing an engine to run up to operating temperature is not good for longevity. My drive to work is 4 minutes tops. I do not drive my vehicles with a cold engine never have.
I learned from Peter Brock of Cobra fame that they would target 220 oil temp when racing to boil the water out of the oil. ECO mode on bronco can close those active shutters, and combined with a little higher rpm driving I can get up to 220 pretty quick (not from a cold start of course, let the little bugger slowly get some heat in it first).

Just an FYI that MPG can change based upon other factors such as altitude. At least in our wrangler (no bronco yet) we get 14-16 in Texas. But we go to Ouray Co a couple of times a year and up there we get 16-19. My assumption is that the computer figures out that the air/oxygen is thinner at the higher altitudes and adjusts the mixture. Our home in Texas is at 500' and our 2nd home in Ouray is at about 8,000'. At first I thought that going over mountain passes, etc would kill the MPG and I suppose it does to some extent but overall I get a gain of about 2 MPG. Your results may vary.

What are you getting in real world driving? Add your model, engine, trans, Sas or not. Before I got mine I really wanted to see real world numbers. Not complaining….. smiles per gallon.
Sasquatch 4 door hardtop with 2.7l Lux auto. I'm averaging 18 mpg now in mostly city, stop and go in LA. I run 87 octane only and use normal driving mode.

I feel the same way, 2.3 manual base upgraded to the black diamond steelies with all terrain tires that come on those. I think I went from 30 in to 31.6 in roughly.

I haven't been pushing the Bronco hard because I'm on the at first thousand miles, 65 on the highway, not going super high on shifts, etc. The best I've really seen is about 18.6 miles per gallon per the dash and per my hand calculations.

I run regular gas and I try to stay on the Eco mode. Most of my driving is done in rural Georgia so a lot of two lanes running about 55 mph.

I know most people will say well don't buy a Bronco for miles per gallon, but I did expect the EcoBoost to do a little bit better.

your own math mine might be off. That could potentially add a couple miles per gallon.
It has ECO in the name. I expect better. I dig the power and HP, but still - I'm getting 14-15 city even with the best gas.

22 Black Diamond 2.3 auto. Just drove 612 miles in upstate NY and averaged 21.6 mpg. I was hoping for 18 mpg so pleasantly surprised.

2.3l 4dr Badlands with auto non squach. 16.4 mpg over 155 miles hand checked. I towed my boat for 40 miles of the 155. The rest are morning and afternoon commute miles. If I can keep consistent speeds around 55-65 I can average 19.2. My lifetime average according to the computer is 17.4. Slightly better than my Jeep TJ.
